Story is a bit sketcky. I find it hard to believe no one noticed a 200K plus car being loaded on a flatbed. No alarm went off? Got any enemies?

I mean be realistic, there aren't people with tow trucks driving down random residential streets looking for high-end cars to jack. If this story is true, the perp is someone you know or someone that knows you very well.

idk tho... sounds real fishy...

there probably is a demand for an sl65 somewhere in the world. disconnect battery, flat bed, and off it goes to another country. reprogram the new key, dashboard, and ecu and it's all set. this sucks...i always thought there are low demands for these cars.

Yes its stupid and its just a car. But at least I will kill the tow truck trying to flat bed my baby. Empty clip and I bet that truck wont move far.

I know you are being sarcastic but be very careful when you are using a weapon against a thief. God-forbid you shoot him, they are unarmed.. you are basically done. You will end up in jail and the thieves family will take possession of the sl and all your other assets....

You can only kill someone if you feel your life or someones else's life is in immediate danger .

Best thing to do is call 911 and let the police handle it.

Your right I know.
But killing the tow truck is worth the time in the can.
Just a discharging a firearm charge.
I guess in Texas you can shoot to kill if you catch them on your property?

Relying on the police for too much more than revenue raising is not going to work. Unfortunately, as more of our freedoms are eroded, we can do less and less to protect ourselves.

I am sorry about your car and I hope that it all works out for you.

Its not like it was a Benley or Porsche, these cars are a little understated, stealthy. A lot of people would prob. just think its getting picked up for service. Yes, I know lots of people that would think that (unfortunatley)

I'm always sorry to hear about this kind of frustrating loss, especially this busy time of the year.

There may be a chance that nearby residents may have been driving by or out for a walk, etc and may have noticed something. Your insurance or police investigator will probably canvas the area by mail or in person as part of the investigation to see if anyone noticed anything. If they don't, then you might consider having one of your employees or personal assistants do it. If this had happened to me, I'd really like to feel that all that could be done has been done .... so I could move on

This is one thing that Florida actually got right. Shoot the bastads dead and just give the police a courtesy call to pick up and process the remains. I think they even send in a free cleaning crew to take care of the aftermath.

From what I've read on the Sig45, if anything is still moving after you've emptied the clip, you either have no business owning a firearm or have encountered a small militia.

Sucks about the SL.

After my girlfriends sister gave me a few laps around the block it set in. At the police station I started going through all the personal paperwork and items that were in the car as well. What a sick feeling. My friend advised I contact roadside so they can track the car. After 20 min getting to the right person they told me they would contact vehicle recovery and get back to me or the police. Never heard back.

Car has still not been found and my question is... how the hell did they do it and are crews really cruising residential streets looking for these cars? Both keys are accounted for and although it was rather dark on the street I didn't see any signs of broken glass. I can only assume there is some high tech way to crack the car's key code or they are just very efficient and skilled at towing. My insurance company said they have a 3rd party company asses the fair market value so we'll see how that goes. All I can advise is think twice about your parking spots even when in a hurry and possibly consider lowjack.
On another note? wouldn't it be funny as hell if your SL65 was a nicely re-badged "FAKE" SL500 Imagine their dismay when popping the hood back at the warehouse

Dude...I hope your insurance gives you the money or a new SL65. My mom's car was recovered from a theft, fixed, but then it never felt the same again.

Definitely a pro job, and deserves the death penalty!

Sorry to hear that your baby got jacked. And I doubt they will find this car. Its not your every day car theif that took your car and that being the case, I am sure its on a boat some place going to Asia.

But keep in mind all...this is the time of the year some people out there just got crazy. I have been down the road your on and as jacked up as it is, it could have been a hell lot worse. At least they didn't jack the car while you were in it or your gf/wife/etc.

Be safe and look at the bright side...its only a car, it can ALWAYS be replaced.

best of luck to you my friend.

I find it hard to believe this story cause its extremely hard to steal these cars and towing it would have alerted roadside and they immediately call the registered number to inform u of the tow.
And you think if they have equipment to steal your car they dont have equipment to disable the GPS signal...

Tele aid can be activated at any time and they can track your car. A friend locked his keys in his S55, called Teleaid, paid the subscription fee, and they unlocked his car for him.

Call Tele aid 800-756-9018, pay the fee, and they'll tell you where your car is.

I hope you have a good insurance coverage that would take care of you quick.
Forget about SL (if you get it back it would feel like your GF was raped),take the $$$ and get something else.

Car Whore
doesnt the teleaid have GPS for tracking? won't they be able to see it no matter where in the world it is as long as its got some power to it?

but then of course that ruins your plan to get out of the payments on the SL65
