SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: New SL63 Pictures
3 new pics, most importantly, one of them is of the new rear diffuser. Doesn't look as bad in this pic
I really like the darkened bi-xenon headlamps, not the shape of the headlamps but the darkened part..
And of course the CF interior. Just what I'm looking to buy right now.
Not feeling the steering wheel, like my DTM wheel better

And what does it say on the lettering on the trunk?
Looks like SL CL.. Maybe its the beers talking but I cant see 6.3.

. OK lets see Toyota 4runner and Mercedes SL, both white but kind of different looking right??? She noticed the difference because she had to climb-up into the 4runner and down into the SL. OK this was a girl but I also think most people don't pay much attention, I grant a little more then this lady but most people will not even notice the changes in the SL's except us. JMHO
Very funny. A lot of that is true. That reminds me of the time a guy came to pick me up in a Jeep Wrangler (no running boards!) for a semi-formal event. I had a short dress on and there was no graceful way to get into his Jeep. I was mortified. That Jeep left a impression on me that has lasted 20 years. I will never forget that experience or that forest green Jeep. Some cars do leave lasting impressions. Just jack your SL up a few feet and she'll remember it the next time.

JMHOPersonally, would debadge my cars (lease my cars and trade-in frequently, so too much of a hassle)....even though I live in a region w/several near-identical copies of my car seen in daily commute....I prefer to drive around not noticed by masses....
Though I have been able to distinguish small details separating various MY of models since I was a small kid, I realize most have no such interest....
But have always have been amazed by how few cars, even in BevHills or Greenwich or SF Peninsula, are <1yo SL/CL/S AMG, w/all key options in a desirable color combo....and are seen in "wild", i.e., a routine wkday commute, esp when cloudy/rainy.....despite much popular exaggeration, in my expce, such cars are uncommon anywhere in world....
And, just when one thinks the general public has no clue re: cars, am occasionally surprised by various questions I've gotten from observers (both male and female) who sometimes are far more clued-in re: cars than predicted, e.g., many young ladies seem to know that yellow color signifies PCCB brakes on Porsches....and a few young ladies in BevHills have observed that many CL63s in BH lack 030 wheels and cf interior trim....and a guy at a wine store on SF Peninsula was carting wine out to my (then) Porsche 997TT and asked me if the PCCB were gen 3 or gen 2 (they were gen 3)....

Back to the OT, the AMG body really makes it look better, and notice how the new tranny is not called an automatic. Its an MCT, sounds like MultiClutchTransmission to me
SL65 AMG with nice wheels! (also avalible for the 63)

Different Interiors, here SL63
SL65 with cross-stepped seats and the Performance steeringwheel:

Would guess SL63 w/030 (Perf Package) will get those 65 wheels (are they lighter than normal SL63 wheels? IIRC, CL63 030 wheels are each ?4-5 lbs lighter than std CL63 wheels), sport steering wheel, perhaps LSD/upgraded brakes/tighter ABC calibration and delimiter.....guessing based upon SL55 030 specs...

This MCT gearbox sounds cool....AMG hasn't disclosed many details yet...but could be some awesome sound effects w/downshift blips bouncing off mtn walls in twisties....SL63 may have the best engine/exhaust sound effects engineering of any car today.....looking forward to it....

yes, you are very exactly!
the Performance-Package for the SL63 includes these forged 19" double-spoke wheels. you can order them (w/o the whole performance Package which is about 11.000€) for about 1300euro.

within the german configurator you can also another pair of new wheels i´ve never seen before.

these 19" don´t cost any extra to the standart (Porsche 997 Turbo style) ones.

i´m sorry that i haven´t any news about the new transmisson. only one picture, to proof that we are getting really new "hardware" without a torque-converter:

@WSH: i think you are right with the exhaust-note of the new SL63. personally i had only the chance to test-drive one of the first SL55, but the sound was stunning.
if i can get more informations i´ll let you know.
greetings,
Felix
Given that AMG hasn't even revealed specifics of many of the technical advances of the SL63 030 MCT gearbox, brakes, ESP, AMG Drive Unit, etc, I suspect we will be hearing more positive news as Geneva approaches....
@ MB Fanatic: I have an early April build SL63 030 and plan to see it live and test-drive it before taking delivery and trading in my CL63 030....right now, odds are 95%+ that I'll trade-in for SL63 030...too many interesting new performance/technical nuances in this SL63 030 to not personally evaluate/enjoy.....
And, after 8K+ mis of (largely) high-speed freeway and mountain twisties driving, view my CL63 030 as best overall driver's car I've ever had/driven (I risk-adjust any car's performance/precision by its overall active/passive safety).....so, I have high expectations for SL63 030's dynamics/precision, especially as I know I will be assuming greater safety risks w/any convertible, even a retractable hardtop....vs a fixed-roof, higher ride-height coupe like CL63 w/its much more ample crumple zones.....
