As a daily driver, no. As a fun car for night time and weekends, definitely!

Weird comparison, a 130k car compared to a 260k exotic.

Funny you should say that cause if money were an issue I would definatly go with the Ferrari. Two years later the 130k Sl will be worth squat and the 260k Ferrari, if you can get one for that, will have lost little of it's value. BTW the newer Ferraris are daily drivers.

To me, the cost of owning an F430 versus a SL63 or SL63 really isn't too much if you factor in the huge depreciation the AMGs are plagued with.

But this is a no-brainer, I would much rather have the F430. The car is a perfect daily driver.

430 Spider is ancient-tech...some 2yrs old....who wants a 2yo Blkberry???

599 is already 16mos+ post-US launch...

Have several car nut colleagues who will be trading in CL63 030 and 599 for SL63 030 and Scud...

And I suspect, esp w/jaded guys, SL63 030 will be driven 90%+ of time (both daily/wkend) vs Scud....

Tq is addictive, as is safety of a new AMG vs primitive/Fiat-safety Scud...which still lacks head/side airbags and has dubious fuel tank crashworthiness (presumably the 100% one-yr trade-in value and lack of post-crash cremation costs will make Scud a superior value)....

Most guys who can afford to drive any car think in terms of risk-adjusted perf....Darwinian selection often prevails in driving perf (or any) cars....

Meh, some of you need to really redefine what you mean by "daily driver". By that, I mean, actually own a car that costs $200k and try driving it every day.

My definition of daily driver is:
1) Drivable in all weather conditions (heavy rain, light snow, hail, fog). I would never drive my F430 in heavy rain, much less snow.
2) Convenience. F-cars are just too low to the ground. Try driving 5mph over every speed bump, incline/decline, driveway or any other obstacle on the ground.
3) Parking. It takes me 5-10 minutes to find decent parking if there's no valet. And I have to make sure the car is parked in an area where it is less susceptible to damage (ie far away from everyone else). I'm glad I wear sneakers everywhere.
4) Storage space. Good luck fitting more than two bags of groceries in the front, much less a set of golf clubs in a F-car.
5) Cup holder. F430 does not have a cup holder. I bet some of you didn't even realize that.
6) Attention. Imagine being stared at. Everywhere you go. Imagine people hopping out of their cars at red lights to take pictures of you. Imagine random guys hollering at you while you're on the highway going 80mph to ask you about the car.

I can go on and on and on. Yea, you "can" drive the F430 every day, but you can also drive a car with your feet. F-cars and Lambo's are the furthest thing (IMO) from a daily driver.

You are silly if you think people would choose a SL55/SL65/SL Black Series over a friggin F430 SCUDERIA. I would kill baby jesus for a shot a buying a Scuderia.

Owning and driving a F-car is an experience. It's not just simply another car.

I would love to have a 430. It would definitly not be a daily driver. I'm not sure I agree that putting 30k a year on it would be inexpensive for maintenance and I imagine the resale value would tank with 150k. Time will tell how my SL will handle the milage. Stick around and I'll let you know!

F430, no. But Gallardo, definitely yes. Most gallardo owners drive them daily or almost daily, they are very reliable and maintance is inexpensive in comparison to Ferrari.

The SL63 is essentially the same old car from 2002 that has been along for ages. Despite the facelift, the SL63 is still outdated.

And I would rather take my chance from dying in a fiery crash in the F430 Scuderia and its "dubious crash worthiness" than turn one down for an SL63.

If I could get my hands one one, I would still rather daily drive the Scuderia rather than the SL63 or 65.

I think the answer is rather obvious.

That in mind, I'd take a newer SL65 over the Novitech 430

I have had a few Ferraris and am in line for a Scuderia this year, but if I can have only one car to drive as my daily driver, it would no doubt be the SL63. It is a convertible, it is a hardtop, it has a panoramic roof, and it has DVD navigation, Ipod connection, voice activated Bluetooth phone, massaging and ventilated seats, and a Dual clutch transmission. To me, its just a better daily driver. No doubt the Scuderia will be way more fun at speed and especially on a track, but on regular roads with pedestrians, speed limits, traffic jams and cops, I'd take my SL63 any day. However, for a Sunday drive, any modern day Ferrari (except 612 which is just as much of a pig as any 2 door Mercedes) will be more fun than the SL.

I don't understand some people here, you know to "some" its not obvious, that is why there are people like me who wants to know "real" opinion rather than your obvious answers.

Only problem with this statement is that the new SL63 is going to be butt ugly
