New 08 SL55
Just picked up my 08 SL55 yesterday. I'll post pics in the picture thread in the next few days. I had a used 03 SL55, but had nothing but problems with it, so traded it in for a new 07 SLK55. That was a very nice car, but I missed the styling, size and overall power of the SL. Here's what I got:
755 Steel grey
211 Black nappa leather
P01 Premium package
Y83 Alcantara headliner charcoal
415 Pano roof
736 Black ash wood
770 19" AMG wheels
881 Electronic trunk closer
I really like the color (had Designo Graphite previously). Dealer says it may be the only one in the country with this color combo inside and out, not that it matters much.
Got $21K off MSRP.
One question: I know 03-04 SL's had iPod/MP3 jack and that 05-07's did not. And also that 09's have a much better set up coming. But I thought I saw a post where someone with an 08 SL said they had a connection. I can't find one in my car. Am I just out of luck? Thanks.

One question: I know 03-04 SL's had iPod/MP3 jack and that 05-07's did not. And also that 09's have a much better set up coming. But I thought I saw a post where someone with an 08 SL said they had a connection. I can't find one in my car. Am I just out of luck? Thanks.

Congrats on SL55
Have owned numerous new SL55/65 in past, but hadn't driven SL in some time, so test-drove a new, '08 SL55 at my dealer recently to refresh my memory.....amazing how much more evident is the exhaust note (even w/roof closed) and direct steering.....even vs my much-enjoyed CL63....apparent on a quick test drive....great stuff....
IIRC, '08 SL55s have iPod integr kit installed at port for some ?$425....a dealer install of same kit is some ?$1000+.....
Sounds like on '09 SLs, iPod and Btooth will be incld and no longer options as currently....

Here are a few pics. Color doesn't show up well. Steel grey is very much like designo graphite, but a little less of the metallic colors, and a hint of blue in the right light. Interior is almost black; always shows up lighter in pics.

iPod jack
No, I can' t find any input jack, either in the glovebox or in the center console. Guess I'm just out of luck, unless planning to spend big bucks. Just seems crazy that the SL line (thru 08) is the only class without it.

Essentially it was dealer stock. My dealer searched the country for the color combo I wanted and there was only one, and it happened to be on the west coast. They bought it, and then I bought it.
