Question Mich PS2 tires?

I wanted to get PS2 tires for my SL, but they are only available in 295/35-18 vs 285 rears OE. Is it safe to use the slightly taller rear on the car? The overall diameter of the new tire matches the OE front (255/40-18).

I saw your other post in the SL forum as well.
Here is a little bit of information from the same problem I had last week.

https://mbworld.org/forums/sl55-amg-sl63-amg-sl65-amg-r230/237408-295-s-too-wide-my-sl55.html

Mine is a SL55 and I thing we may have a rolled fender on my car.
My 295`s fit with my 19`s. But its right on the edge as far as rubbing.
And I am using the OEM AMG SL65 Wheels.

Your not metioning what Wheels you have so its a roll of the dice.
Because I know how much that set of PS2`s is going to cost I would make sure before I mounted them.

Interesting, I am running the OE 18in turbine wheels. I am not sure off the offset compared to your car.

I know the 19`s are hard to find in PS2. 285/30ZR19-98 so I went 295.

But last time I got new tires on my Turbine 18`s I found the 285/35ZR18-97`s without problem ?

PS2s are not sold in 285/35-18 sizes; I really wanted to get PS2s.

Your right about the PS2`s . I looked at my old tires. They are just PS`s.

Hang tough. Someone here will have the same setup and respond.

I am curious, as you have had both, are PS2s noticeably better/different then standard PS? Do you loose traction as easily? Steering feel the same/better/worse?

I have never compared PS and PS2 back to back and am wondering.

The PS`s were fine on my SL55 for well over a year. I got about 12,000 miles
out of them and they still have a little life left. They did get a bit noisy as they got older. But for a staggered tire wore very well. They handled great but towards the end of their life the SL55 just would brake them loose too often.
Still a good Michelin Tire.

I think your going to be OK with the 295`s from what I am seeing.

Just wait around and someone will have the same setup. I see those turbine wheels on so many SL`s.

I got sick of mine. They are a real pain to keep clean. My new setup is so nice. I can get to the caliper and keep it clean as well.

Your lucky! They don't sell that rear size anymore.

You can find them on ebay if you search, I am pretty sure. I bought a spare a few months ago
