I have rubbing with my new 305..
I just got my IForged Daytonas 9x19 front and 11x19 rear.
Looks beautiful!
Only one problem.. Rubbing.
I have read on this forum that there would be no problem to run 305 in the rear as long as You have a perfect offset.
Since IForged makes custom rims to my specific car I expected perfect offset.
But I have rubbing on the rear...
The car is lowered.
Tires are Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 305/30-19.
The same setup I know a few guys running on this board. (Some with 305/25-20, same roll diameter.)
So I don't know why I have rubbing and others don't?
As You can see in the last pic I have put on some tire crayon (?) and there is indeed some rubbing.
It was okay as long as I was in the stiffer sports mode, but when I got into normal mode the fender was rubbing of the crayon.
Do I have a question or am I just frustrated?
Yes to both questions!
What is the solution?
(I don't want to buy another expensive 295/30 tire. I really want 305)
Do You think it will help to roll the fenders?
Raise the car a bit (I have lowering links)?
What will happen when I reach the speed when the car dropp a little bit? (110 km/h, mph?)
Will the fender make the tire explode?
Sorry for the long rant. But I have been waiting for these rims over 3 months (I'm in Sweden) and when they finally get here I cant drive with the tires I expected to run.
The main reason I got these rims, besides they are lighter, was that I could get some wider tires to help me get better traction.
So any ides what could be wrong or better yet a solution.

Rolling the fenders will only get you so far. It could be a solution, but it might not. A got wheel / body shop should be able to help you. What is important is to know where the tire rubs (perhaps you can put the crayon on you inner wheel arch to find out).
The ABC lowering at speed could definitely make things worse. So it is important to get stuff right. Especially since the potential problems might occur at high speeds which means high risk.
When I upgraded my wheels to 19" AMG 030 wheels (rear 10J ET 28) they had to roll the fenders a bit to get the recommended 285 rear tires fitted. All per instructions directly from AMG (my tire shop has a clear communication line to Affalterbach).
We informed if 295 wheels would be an option (for a fatter look) and AMG reccomended against it, and even Brabus (they are official Brabus dealer over here) recommended to put 285's on.
From time to time I drive 300 Km/h over the Autobahn. At those speeds I want everything to be according to reccomendation. I cannot explain a blown tyre @ 280 Km/h to my girlfriend ;-)

Hmmm....my initial thought is to see if you can increase the wheel offset. This would move the wheel and tire inward, away from the point where the tire is rubbing.
A high end wheel shop can do this by (carefully!) grinding away small amounts from the mounting pad on central hub of the wheel.
Potential issues are the wheels still need to clear the brake calipers, the tires still need to clear the inside of the fender well, and the wheel needs to have enough mass on the mounting pad to remove some material.
I'm pretty sure this topic has been discussed in other threads on the MB World forum.
Good luck!

I'm very dissapionted (damn, that was a hard word to spell for a Swede...)about my rims/tire combo right now, but there is nothing like a good a** kissing to make it better!
Sorry.....
I'm on my laptop right now, but I promice some pics when Im on my regular computer.
Thanks for all the ideas so far.
Please dont stop the brainstorming.
If 305 is out of the question I just might have to get a BMW...

I would start with some light fender rolling, doesn't look like you would have to roll much to clear. Then I would shave a few mm off the mounting surface if you didn't want to roll any more and were still rubbing. All it takes is a few mm.

I think you need two things , raise the car, and try and get the wheel deeper under the fender, looks flush you need about 5-7mm off the hub. I have 305/30/19 on my CLS and its not even close to rubbing car is stock height, the wheel tucks just under the fender. 5x112 bolt and I have a 15 mm spacer bringing the wheel out. Perhaps you can tuck the wheel in or slightly roll the fender it will look fine. Seems like it only rubs when car is at its lowest setting, do you know where it is hitting?

If the problem is indeed caused by ABC lowering during driving (because of your lowering links) you might consider a lowering module. Carlsson appears to be 100% configurable and seems to be your best option on this side of the ocean. Renntech gets a lot of praise too on this forum, but I'm not sure of they offer support in Europe.

Thank You for taking Your time to try to help me!
What I will do is this:
1. Get some crayon on the fender to see where the rubbing is. Then roll the fender where the rubbing is.
2. Raise the car just little bit. I really dont want to this because I love the slammed look. But I understand that is the only option right now.
3. When I got some time I will look around to see if someone here in Sweden is skilled enough to shave of a few millimeter on the center.
Thanks once again!

Can you post the offset of the rim so everyone can know what will and will not rub with the 305 tire? Good info to know for when I pick up some rims for my (hopefully) eventual SL55 purchase.

There was a inspection note that came with the rims but it only stated:
Inner rim 7 inch
Outer rim (lip) 4 inch.
There was nothing written in the field "offset".
I dont think anything was written at the back of the rims either.

I am having the same problem with the rear, I am running Lorinser lm-5 20x11 and 26mm offsets rears with 305 25 20 tires and they rub pretty bad. I have not lowered the car or anything. wonder what's going on

I'm assuming they're rubbing on the outside edge of the tire, correct? Not the inner fender well?

305/30 is not the same as...
305/25. Remember, that number is a percentage of the width/height. Could be just enough to make the difference. My car, lowered, with 295/25/20 has no issues at all.

yeah, just the outside edge of the tire. Are my offsets too low at 26mm ??? I wonder if going 295 25 20 would make the difference???? I've been thinking of just going down to 19 inches wheels too.

We have 20", and Nicke_230 is running 19". That's why he has 30 profile, instead of 25, as we do...
And from what I've learned, 305/30-19 and 305/25-20 are suppose to be equal in hight.
And 295/25-20 as you have is of course even lower...

Probably too low. Maxabo says he has no rubbing with 35 offset, so somewhere in between 35 and 26 is the limit, but also depends on ride height. Going to a 19" wheel and 305 tire won't change a thing if the offset and the overall tire height is the same. However, going with a 295/25-19 will move that tire edge very slightly away from the fender though.

I had my SL slammed for a while on 305/25/20 tires in the rear with no issues at all except a very uncomfortable ride. With a pefect wheel offset you should have no rubbing at all.
