car stinks after detail
my local Mercedes dealership offered me a detail to resolve a financial issue which I accepted. After it was finished the car stunk like an old wet shoe. obviously they used dirty water and despite 3 shampoos( by my detailer) I still cannot get the smell out of the carpet. How would you folks handle this. I cant take the smell

The worst thing about this is that the service manager at Fletcher Jones Las Vegas: Van, and the Client relations manager: Izalia , state there is no smell. I have 13 people who have signed a form that they smell the offensive odor clearly. Great job Mercedes. Create the problem then deny it exists.

One time my GF broke the rules and took my CL to some lame
azz Car Wash. Same deal.
Now its smells like butt when it rains or right after I wash it.
The bacteria are in the car. They bloom whenever it gets moist.
I have tried everything for 2 years. No Luck.
Thank got its only my 9 year old CL500.
If it was my SL55 I would kill.

Could it be the A/C unit? Sometimes the condenser gets mildewed, especially if you run it in the recirculate mode most of the time. It might be pure coincidence that the smell appeared the same time you got your car back from detailing. After all, the mildew smell from the A/C has to start one day and there's no reason why it couldn't be the same day that you got your car detailed. Why the dealership denies smelling it is beyond me, though.

Nope. Car stinks with the air off. Actually smells worse after it's been sitting overnight. Going to try to re, re. re, re-detail the inside and deodorize it. If that doesn't work, ripping out all the carpeting.

I had a car get flooded once, and had the same thing. They removed all of the carpets, dried them, and reinstalled the same ones. You're right - it is bacteria/mildew and it's a ***** to get out. I used a heap of baking soda, applying, vacuuming, and repeating.

Shampooed it 3 times more and the smell is 95% gone. Going to let it air out for a month or two and change out the air conditioner filters. Still mad at those *******s. Makes me not want to but another MB.
