Of course not. That would make no sense from a financial perspective

from my experience, Dealers says a lotta BS about cars.

Dealers are businessmans, there are no enthousiasts.

what that dealer said is discouraging people to buy too... not exactly what a businessman will say...

You can't compare the two situations, quite a bit different.

The CLS63 replaced the 55, they look the same...just different engine basically.

The SL63 has quite the facelift, it wouldn't make sense to design that facelift and have it run for only 1 year.

Even the SLK isn't up for a FMC anytime soon. The dealer is simply trying to discourage you from buying one. The FMC for the R230 SL is sometime around 2011 ~ 2013

I am sorry, but an engine change is a big friking change my friend . Just because you can see the change (exterior looks, while the other is hidden in the engine bay). thats not counting gear box, suspention, and now the c63 features our dripping down to the 09 CLS63 down blip , esp settings. So no its not with out question that it could happen.

examples are the BMW 645,545,745 engines that got changed to 650,550,750 and these engine were pretty new!
or what about the 7 face lift?

MB has examples to, but take the SL went form 10 year cycle to a car that has received two face lifts already, heck even the SL55 08 got a power boost steering mod etc.

Uh it's not like they designed the 6.2L motor just for the CLS, it went in the E63 and CL63 as well.

Press releases. Have you seen the updated SLK? The SL will continue to sell in the R230 model for quite some time to come. His dealer is simply an *** hole.

if the sl63 will last for 5 years to 2013, then it's not so bad to replace my sl55...

An engine change is not the same thing as a facelift or a entire model change. The SL changing for 2010 is utter BS. Mercedes or no other company does business that way. At the most this facelifted SL will last for the 2009 and 2010 model years, at the least.

Engine changes are irrelevant here. Clearly this guys dealer doesn't have a clue as to what they're talking about.

I also heard 2 years which would make it the 2011 model for the full change.

you say this yet the SL has received numerous things, 2 face lifts in a small amount of time for starts. Better steering rack, engine upgrades 500, 550, 55, 63 new rear lights, revised intake, new gear box MCT, new nav, new seats, new dash, new ESP system, new front, new rear, new side and so on.

So if i was to follow you thinking then there was not going to be a second face lift, when in fact there was and its not a small one! (some people think its a new model due to the big changes!

what i am trying to say is you never know, as i have not seen it written in stone that the SL will not get changed in 2009-2010 or which ever date

What kind of a stupid generality is that??...that's like me saying that all the clients that have bought from my family don't know anything about their cars...does that hold true to you??

And by the way...English is my second language but last time I checked I was an enthusiast, not an enthousiast.

Wrong. You're getting a facelift confused with an all-new car.

First of all the SL has a longer production cycle than other Mercedes. The previous SL went from 1990-2002 with 2 facelifts during that time frame. The current on just went through and extensive facelift and it would make no sense to ditch the entire car in 2009 or 2010. The R230 SL has at least 2 more model years, 2009 and 2010 before we'd see an all-new model. It is written in stone that it won't change in 2009 or 2010. Ain't gonna happen. For it to change "in" 2009 that would mean a new car for the 2010 model year, ain't gonna happen. A new SL will likely debut for the 2011 or 2012 model year.

Like I said before the changes you speak of are irrelevant here, we're talking about whether or not there will be a new SL (not a facelift) for 2010. A totally new SL isn't going to happen until at least the 2011 model year.

The U.S. SL550 will get a new steering rack for the 2010 model year, the same one that the Europeans get now. Still won't be a new SL, just a tweaked one. You're getting a facelift confused with an all-new model, the latter of which is still at the very least 2 model years off.

Only thing I have heard is new motor rollouts to start around 10-11, facelift may also be possible around that time but 100% no way Benz would totally change it. You would enrage people that purchased the new style on lease thinking they would be safe for at least 4 years.

Dealer has to be talking about the new motor rollouts and with gas approaching 5$ a gal, even that is in jeapardy now.
