I could not resist the thought of 700+ ft-lbs of torque and finally gave in to my inner urge: Traded in my E63 and got this 2005 SL65. I thought there would only be marginal difference in power, needless to say, I am amazed that the difference is like night and day. A few pics attached.

Congrat. It's a beauty. Just remember to replace the orange reflectors with clear ones. Enjoy.

I disagree, european impact strips with no markers whatsoever are best! Best of all, you can order them from your local MB parts department. Have them on my R230, cleanest solution IMO.

quick question, does the 05' have satelite raio. The button is there and the usual menu comes up, but there is no registration number an it simply states "no satellite radio", all soft buttons are greyed out. Does that mean it simply does not have the capability?

kwaobus,

I have an '05 with Sirius. You may not have the module - although the head unit has the built in capability - satelite radio requires a seperate module which I believe is placed in the trunk.

Now take it to a Renntech tuner for an ecu/tcu mod and really enjoy all that the car has to offer.

Sirius is possible with the installation of the control module and the antenna.

P.S. I do installations on the side in the Los Angeles area.

Appreciate the offer, but I live in Miami. Approximately how much is the control module and the antenna if I may ask?

$699.00 for the SAT module which comes with 6 months service.
$300.00 or so for the bracket and trunk antenna which is paint matched.
2-4 hours shop time to install.

Looking at around $1500.00 by the time it is done.

kwaobus:

First off..... well done. The 65 cars are some of the best performance car bargains out there. I bet that car was ~$200K out the door!

Second.... When all that power gets boring, give me a call. We have a little 'kick' for your car!

And lastly, what does your name kwaobus mean?

Have fun and be safe!

What a hot colour combination, I absolutely love pewter as I've had it on my previous SLK280 but with red interior on your SL65 its a classic combination. Such a gorgeous car, take care of it and enjoy it in the best of health.

Love that interior; but don't change the side markers. Those ugly clear ones will make it look ricey.
