SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: Fire extinguisher/Silver State Classic

Fire extinguisher/Silver State Classic
I plan to take my '04 SL55 to the Silver State Classic in September (if you have not heard of it, its where they open up US 318 for a day and take off the speed limits on a 90 mile stretch. Its pretty regulated though - for instance as a 1st timer I am limited to 110mph average/124max). To do that I need to mount a fire extinguisher inside someplace!! Has anybody done that or know anybody in the San francisco Bay area who might do that without messing up the interior?
thanks
Bob

Hey! That's great!
I've not done or seen a fire extinguisher installation on an SL but if you're open for suggestions, I'd suggest a temporary installation (straps, not bolts) on the floor behind the passenger seat.
Good luck!

No t-shirt for you?
I suppose that entry in year 2 might be a no go.
Sorry I can't help on the extinguisher.

If I remember correctly, if you exceed your designated speed you can be ticketed by the NV highway patrol.

Car Whore
lol do they treat it as a regular ticket over the posted speed limit, or only your given speed limit?
would be funny to get one of those tickets either way

I think you just lose the game - there's 100 observers!!. There is in fact an unlimited speed section and somebody did the run at an average speed a little over 207mph for the 90 miles and now has the guiness record for highway driving.

Oh, the memories of Silver State Classic!
I ran it four times, back in my Ford days in early 90s.
Last time I ran in 1995, lost front tire thread at 160 mph ....... that was fun!
And that was THE last time.
Getting back to your question, on SL, you need to mount it to where it is within your reach. I would recommend on the passenger side next to transmission tunnel.

Is there any chance about hearing "the rest of the story" about losing a tire in your Ford at 160 mph?
Certainly sounds as though there is more to be told about that incident.

I actually had a blow out in my SL 2 weeks ago - merely annoying though. I had goo not a spare (looking for one those now) and NOBODY (try 37 calls) between Yosemite and the SF bay area has 285/35/18s so it was a 150 mile tow. 3 of us are going to the Nevada run. 1 has an NSX and is mounting his extinguisher as you suggest. The other is considering entering the 110mph deal - then just abandoning his Tshirt.
