Clear Side Markers/Hi Flo Filters?
Just picked up a '06 SL65 yesterday with 1,200 miles. I would like to get the clear side markers and high flow air filters. I saw some clear side markers on ebay for SL55....will they fit on the SL65s? Also, which air filter are you running? I installed some K&Ns on my W211 E500 previously and it messed up the MAF and went to limp mode. I switched out to Green Filters and had no problems. Are green filters the way to go? Thanks in advance!

LION,
Do yourself a favor and order the EURO IMPACT strips. You'll notice there are strips on the bumper that have the cutout for the side-marker, well you can actually order the strips from the european R230 which has those deleted and looks superclean. I've got a parts guy at Motorwerks who has the # and you can order directly through MB. They are like $190 pre-painted. Best way to go IMO - white will look strange on Pewter.

Thanks Marcus. I'll let you know if I need the part #. I know a couple of parts guys at St. Charles and Loeber I'll ask them first. I had the clear side markers on my W211 and thought it looks ok but the euro impact strip definately completes the look.

Euro strips
Marcus,
I'd be very interested in the euro impact strips. I was considering the clear side markers, but none is better! How do the old strips come off and the new ones attach? Is it held by adhesive? Thanks.

The parts are a little tough to find in the system - you have to make sure they look at the european spec R230.
Bob,
They are actually clip on - they are held be a number of hooks/clips and they can be a PITA to take out, or easy. My '04 600 was a total pain, but my '05 was a cakewalk. You basically pull on the part that's closest to the wheels on both sides, and then gradually make your way to the center of the car. Towards the center there are hooks and you have to push the strip towards the center of the car to get them to unhook.
Or just have your dealership do it

Bob,
You will need to provide your color code - part #s are:
A230 885 12 21 (PROTECTIVE STRIP - RIGHT)
A230 885 11 21 (PROTECTIVE STRIP - LEFT)
Good luck,
Marcus
