06 SL55 for 78K verses 07 SL550 for78K?Any Suggestions.

I am at the end of a 27 mnth lease with a $78K Buy out with 27,000 Miles on aSL550,well yetserday I stopped at dealer with a 06 SL55 w/10,000 Miles for the same $78K! I know they are differance between the two motors, can anyone let me know what to expect with the SL 55? I want the car bad, have the dough and I'm looking for some suggestions, I know what the answer is, however , forum members and SL55 Owners may think otherwise. Thanks.

SL55
I would go for an SL55 in a heartbeat, but that price seems steep to me. I just bought my 2005 SL55 for $ 55,500.00 with higher miles, but still MINT condition. The 06 should be bought for maximum of $ 68,000.00 IMO. These cars are hard to move right now, so you can find a good deal. Use Autotrader and Cars.com as a tool to ascertain value. Good luck.

Question

Car is on Auto Trader and Retail is $82,500 Trade In is $68,500 and $78,000 is where I have a Buy Price at. Car is BRAND NEW!
One more thing for a 05 SL55 your almost if not out of warranty, and that alone brings the #'s down, as far as price on the 06 it is over list on all KBB
NABA and other apraisers. Maybe I'm wrong?

KBB and NADA are always off by quite a bit. The National Auto Research numbers for that car in CT (based on actual sales in the region and updated daily) is. These prices reflect additional $$$ added for the low mileage (about $500-600).
Wholesale high (extra clean): $66,600
Wholesale low (rough): $54,500
Retail high (Extra Clean): $74,000
Retail low (rough): $60,500

Yes, you are wrong (at least IMO).

That SL is 5g's too high.
You bring that car to a dealer for a trade and they will offer you 65.

Offer them 70 and fight like a dog for anything above 71.

Night and day difference between the 55 and the SL.

Buy the 55. If it's a good car and you like it, you will have a blast with it. If it's a matter of a couple of grand either way, don't beat yourself up... enjoy the car. My 55 is one of the best cars that I have owned. I have had it since '03, and loved every minute. I don't worry about residuals. First off, I keep cars for a long time, and second.... he enjoyment factor.

I am not factoring warranty into my base price calculations. I bought it with warranty expiring next may and paid $ 1500.00 for certification which adds 1 year, then bought another 2 years for an extra $ 2300 I believe.

But while I was car shopping for the SL55, I found MANY cars could be bought $ 10,000 or more below asking and always at just under Fair Trade in value. Even from a Benz dealer. One was asking $ 88,000.00 for an 06 loaded, and would do the deal at $ 65,000.00 without certification, or $ 66,500.00 with.

They were asking $ 79,000.00 for mine and I got it for $ 55,500.00 MINT condition.

It never hurts to offer if it is fair. If the other person is willing to accept it, it is fair. But people should not be offended by offering a lower price to avoid losing $ 15,000.00 a year, but rather minimize the depreciation.

I'm all in!

Your all probally right, I live in and around Fairfield County, look it up online, it is one of the most expensive places to live and highest per capita income in the US. I love the SL 550! I've beaten it to hell and back(2 transmissions) and 3 sets of tires, I think it's time for some real high perfomance! I can't stop thinking about the possibilities with the SL55! I already have rims and a JL Clean Sweap with Amps, Subs and Component Speakers priced and on hold.
Are these AMG'S reallyfast enough day to day? I need to know.

Red face Busted

Profile is almost correct, I 've secured SL55 W/deposit, have insurance in place ETC....... and if I don't buy it I'll pick up a 07 SL55 or a SL63. I'm on the fence,

The SL55 is a great car. You get just soooo much car for relatively little money. And unlike a lot of cars in that performance range, you can use it as a daily driver...

Once you've driven an SL55 you don't want to go back to a SL550, since it feels really slow in direct comparism.
