SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: SL 63 2009 Just WOW

It sounds so incredible compared to my CLS, its so loud. It sounded meaner than the S65 that I also drove. Somehoe the SL 63 feels faster than it should?
The shifting is amazing , jeez, I am so sick that my CLS lacks this transmission, just sick!!!
I still like my seats better but the interion (Carbon ) looks so amazing.
The car squats and bolts , it is so refined yet feels RAW.
I will try and get this car on the track this winter, I feel like it is faster than my CLS 63 but perhaps the sound was fooling me.
For those who OWN this car, I HATE YOU , LOL

BTW....
If you get it, I bet you can shave .1 sec off your ET if you unbolt the convertable hardtop!

The shift points are perfect and it feels like a manual withthe comfort of an auto, HUGE IMPROVEMENT

in terms of raw power, would you say that it blows the socks off an sl55 both in terms of actual performance as well as butt dyno?
also, do you guys know if there will be any new colors?
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I am still not sold that the 63 engine is better than the 55K. From the tuning side the 55K engine is brilliant. I love the power delivery.
The transmission is spectacular as the shifts are very fast and it matches the revs on downshift in sport and manual mode.
The sound of the exhaust is addictive and the brakes outstanding.
There really isn't anything about the car that i don't like.It has to rank as one of the best cars i have ever had and i sometimes prefer it to the 722 as the tranny is better and it is not as high profile

If someone can masterthe LC features the SL 63 will consistantly beat the SL 55 in the 1/4 mile.
I dunno if you truly would race around in this carit simply is a well refined fun MB to drive, it feels and sounds incredible .
The 2 cars sound completely different. The SL63 has less engine noise than the 722 and the exhaust is similar to an american muscle car.
The 722 sounds like a spitfire.
As a daily driver the SL63 wins hands down
All aging men coasting in the carpool lane, the most I got was a thumbs up

Im serious the SL 63 is what all 63's should feel like, the transmission is hands down the best ever in a BENZ, sound as well , it really is.
The 55 is likely just as fast but I tell ya the SL 63 feels 65 fast

Check out this 5th gear SL63 review, guy says he prefers the 55 motor.

Very nice!! more agressive looking than my 55.
I picked up a brochure and when I got home I was amazed.
SL 63 0-62 4.7 secs
SL600 0-62 4.5 secs.
I think I will book a drive in the SL63 but in the UK most tests have prefered
the SL55. But I have heard the g/box is better on the 63, I think the SL63
may be down on torque compared to the 55 and the 600. I keep judgement
until I have driven the SL63.

I don't claim to be an expert but today I got some seat of the pants experience. I drove a my SL550 to a MB Dealer to test a new CL63, a new SL63 and a new SL63 with the $12,500 Performance package.
The CL63 lacks the "sport" feeling (but not the speed of course) that I get in an SL...it is very refined and incredibly smooth of course, but IMHO it is not an alternative for someone considering the SL.
Next I drove the SLs...with both cars dialed in to "max performance", I can't tell you just how big a difference and how much more responsive the Performance Package makes the SL63. With the Performance Package is it a SL65…? It's damn close.

I also have to say I took the SL63 out on the highway and then took an SL55 out on the same stretch of highway today, and I seem to like the SL55 more and more everytime I drive it, while the SL63 I liked alot when I first drove it but not as impressed after driving it three or four times. In addition, the SL55 is much more comfortable than the SL63. Personally, I hate the headrest on the SL63.
Dont you think the inside somehow feels kinda cheap though?

I can respect the reviewer, and can appreciate the cars feel different. Remember my comments on the SL 55(brutal)(rear end too lose). All 55k cars feel faster than the 63 , but the 63 sounds faster and delivers power in a more efficient manner. The 63 has a different feel, and the transmission makes this the best 63 to date. Car sounds like a nascar with alancantra interior.
I like both motors but the transmission sets the SL 63 apart from other 63's and the previous platform
