true but its beefed up far more than a M6 of SL55. The bracing and reinforcements required to make the black series cars do add weight but they also are some tough beasts capable of constant track use. I can say from serious experience that driving a modded AMG car at the track setting very fast lap times absolutely destroys the car. You rip things off, shatter parts, and the car ends up a wobbly mess. Once a year you need to re-build the entire suspension if you chose to tack your AMG car (non black series) in a seriously aggressive manner. I now people do track days in their cars but if you pull out the clock and CHASE the clock and everyone in true sports cars the AMG car just goes kerflop. Now yes I know its stupid to do that and yo u should buy a sports car to do that but half the fun was scaring the living daylights out of people in a stupid silver W203. Its the same thing as getting a CTS-V and scaring the daylights out of corvette drivers in a 4 door cadi. Puts a certain smile on my face!

The black series car can take that abuse and keep going. For 350k that SL65 better be able to do something amazing at the track and still ride well. Thats true exotic territory.

Well said. The Black Series are the first modern AMG's that we can buy in the US that are truly track worth for regular workouts.

This one is funny from the other site.

Says something like "Who ever said thin was in has not seen these curves."

Many pictures in detail

MB web site has all kinds of pictures of the new Black Series SL car. Hard to believe that car is still over 4,000 pounds...kind of makes a joke out of the "Sport-Light" (SL) name.

Tires will be the weakest part. Honking around a track with a 4000 pound car will make short work of your rubber. Once the tires overheat the grip changes dramatically, and it is almost impossible to back off and let them cool. As the slip angle gets bigger and bigger you keep adding more heat to the tires.
