I used Torco (race gas) = 100 octane

The effects were a vastly different power delivery & very noticable SOTP increase! I'm going to Dyno to quantify my Butomometer findings, the SL600 tt feels like a BEAST on 100 oct..

Everything else is STOCK besides cat-back (which as we all know is mostly for better sound, I'd say 10-15 crank HP if anything)

Anyhow anyone else already try High octane or Torco on their stock or tuned V12 tt? what were your impressions?

I've ran Torco for the past 5yrs in my blown Vette's and can tell you that it absolutely eliminates detonation and does increase your octane levels- I've seen it happen on the dyno. I've often wondered how it would.....or if it would effect the tune on the V12 bi-turb. I've still got some in my garage, maybe I'll drop some in and see if I can tell a difference. Ideally, I'd like to do a before/after dyno pull. I need to get with my local tuner and see if I can do that...........

I've tried various 100 octanes in my E55 to absolutely no benefit (verified by dyno). At least on the 55s, there does not appear to be "room" in the factory mapping to allow for increased timing in conjunction with the extra octane - meaning that there would then actually be a drop in HP as the rule of thumb always is to use the least amount of octane possible before detonation/preignition.

In your case, I think you are actually seeing the benefit because your 91 octane there is just so **** poor. For the rest of us who have access to somewhat decent 93, I do not think there will be much of a difference.

i was just about to say that the comp runs all the timing in (not much to begin with as the blown/turboed mb heads generally are very "fast" in terms of flame propagation times) with 93 octane.

as a result running higher than 93 octane has no benefits as the comp does not advance any further thus not making more power...

but if you have ****ty gas and your adaptive timing has been beaten into submission and comp has learned to run conservative timing, putting some high octane gas would definitely result in more power...

SL 55 AMG
when i go to PIONEER gas station there max is 91 octane and my cars runs good . When i pump @ Sunoco i get 94 Octane .... my car runs amazing ...... i notice my tourqe is INSANE when using higher octane.

i can feel the push in my car , like no tommorow when i pump @ sunoco .... now i gotta try those high octane cans . i wanna see if that will be the icing on the cake .

I've felt good results in my tuned SL65 mixing Chevron 91 and Union 76 102 race gas at a 60/40 ratio. Noticeable difference.

Turbos tend to love race gas--- F/I's not so much.
