You need to re-read what I said... 80-90 something degree heat with high humidity = bad trap speed. The DA's were 1,500+ft. Using calulators it would run 120+ at sea level. I can assure you that the stock E55's running 118+ were running in conditions at or below sea level. BTW RENNtech doesn't make a 730hp package...and no... a Z06 will not get "murdered" by a RENNtech SL65. The RENNtech SL65 should walk it above 140mph....but I would hardly call that a "murder". Do the same $12K of mod's to a Z06 and you would then have a crime scene....and the guys from CSI could make the call in a matter of seconds.

Using this calculator I come up w/790 crank
Using the popular Patrick Hale formula on this page gives 10.547 s @ 129.24 with 775 crank (using run weight of 4600 pounds).
I've found that this particular formula, which I first read about in R&T some years back, works pretty well if you use as-tested weight and trap speed, at hitting rated horsepower--except for the AMG cars, for some reason.
You can plug in a few traps/as-tested weights and see for yourself....
Btw, as the author notes, all of those things are far less accurate at predicting ET than they are at predicting traps.

My SL65 weighs 4630 lbs with me in it and a 1/2 tank of gas. I don't know where 4800lbs came from. I also took my car to the track in mid August and trapped 120 with a DA of 2680ft. It was 87 degrees and had been raining out earlier in the day so it was pretty humid. My car is stock.

I'm sorry that I've been holding out on you guys, but I hope you all understand I wasn't in a position to speak.

I know the owner of this car personally, and it will go 130mph once they make a few final tweaks to the tune and IC setup. You heard it here first folks:
JUST TUNE AND COOLING WILL GET THESE 65s TO HIT 130MPH ON 93 OCTANE!!!

So back to the original question, this car produced 578 rwhp and trapped 128 mph.

zlicious,
I also caution how great of a deal you might think the SL65 is at $80k. This was a $200k car new, and fixing/servicing this car as well as parts have not depreciated with the car's value. It's also NOT a DIY friendly car like a Z06, not even close. You can't even bleed the freaking brakes on this car without a computer with special connector and software.
Just my $.02

Additionally, I was referring to not necessarily warranty items, as much as maintenance items. Rotors for these cars are $800 a piece. Doing an SBC fluid flush will cost you around $700-$950. These aren't things you can assume are things you can yourself, either. These are just some examples, but the same kind of applies for the E55s too. E55s now are in the 40k range, and people think that wow, the car is cheap, but when a maintenance bill or an out of warranty issue comes up, they have sticker shock. The price to maintain these cars does not deperciate, in fact as they get older, it obviously increases.

First off, CPO only covers the car for an additional year our of original warranty.

Nope....I heard it first from the owner himself.

Fast cars in general....
I had both modded CL65 (559whp) and 08 Z06 (591whp). From my experience, I doubt any 65 will ever come close to Z in a straight line performance stock or modded. I have many videos to prove this. From roll ons, the stock Z put 559whp CL65 about 3-4 cars behind. When the Z was modded to 591whp, then it did put a few bus lengths. IMO, 591whp Z (spent 8K in mods) can 'murder' any 65. I'm sure your 530whp Z can put any modded 65 to shame.

Lotus Elise SLK55
VRP tuned CL65 just trapped 129mph with ecu, intercoolers, and intake. Since SL65 is lighter, it would have no problem trapping over 130mph with the aforementioned mods, which are pretty much simple bolt-on upgrades.

I agree with most of you on the straight-line drag race, on the track, with a stock Z and a stock SL65.....but, having owned 3 high rwhp Vettes (440, 550, 600) I'm here to tell you that I think my stock S65 would out run, or nearly out run all of them on the street in a quarter mile....."street" I say.
My 65 is absolutely nasty from a dig......any high HP Vette (especially a MN6 Vette) is going to have serious traction issues from 1-2nd...possibly 3rd.
I've ran the scenario in my head a thousand times- my 600rwhp auto C6 with a 3200 stall against my stock 65....both on street tires, and both from a dig on the street-... my 65 wins in a .25mile as the Vette smokes the 345's on the rear all the way to third and is a **** to control/maintain a straight line......
Get some over anxious rookie in a Vette against my auto, heavy-*** 740ft lbs of torque 65 and he'll struggle to catch me in any "reasonable" distance.......again, IMO and speaking from personal experience.
I reiterate, on the track or with any decent traction on the Vette, the Z wins everytime.....but for short blasts on the street, from a dig, I'll take my 65 any day of the week

& the new CL weigh nearly the same as the out going 215, this has been discussed to death, as well as documented in many magazines & actual track hounds weighing both vehicles...

I did see that they said the 2008 CL65 was 4,599lbs... clearly they weren't using the right figure because the 2009 CL65 didn't just gain 350lbs overnight. The W216 CL65 hasn't been tested in any US mags but it has been tested in European magazines. All those magazines publish the weight at nearly 2,300kgs (almost 5,000lbs) whereas the W215 CL65 was always around 2,100kgs.
