SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: 87 Octane in SL55?? Only choice?

87 Octane in SL55?? Only choice?
Well my city is experiencing a major gas shortage it seems, most pumps are completely out and everyone that has any ONLY has regular, no mid grade or high test. Actually just to get home yesterday I put 3 gallons of regular in the car otherwise i don't think i would have made it back to the house
Is it ok to put a tank of regular in this thing until the gas situation gets straigthened out or should i just leave it parked and drive another vehicle?

Personally I'd probably park the car and wait for better gas.

i HAD to put 3 gallons of regular in it yesterday as I was afraid i wouldn't even make it home. I'll probably head down to SC this evening(25m or so) and see if i can find some premium. It isn't my everyday driver car so i can park it, but i do like cruising to the gym in the evenings with the top down so i got to find me some premium...lol

The ECU will adapt to the lower octane by cutting the timing, among other things. These engines have so many sensors and the ECU is so protective, the car will be OK... just don't ask for big performance right now as all of the horses won't be in the barn!
You can add 3 oz. of acetone to 15 gal of gas and it will help raise the octane.
