SL55 MIR Run: 11.421 @ 121.23

Wow, what a day, what a track!

I actually had back-to-back 11.4 second passes six minutes apart. This was the second pass and was marginally better than the first, both in ET and trap speed.

Car #55 in the other lane was Blackbenz's CLK55, a really sweet ride.

Wow!!! That's awesome John!!!!! Congrats!

Looks like the package seems to be working well. That is an incredible time for an SL body.

Congratz! Excellent ET & Trap! I think that is the fastest SL55 ET NO NOS run yet??

Hi, Victor. Yes, the car is definitely making a lot of power right now.

My best run with some mods but before the VRP pulley and VR600 ECU tune was 12.127 seconds @ 118.37 MPH. After adding those mods I dropped 0.7 seconds off the ET and increased the trap speed by 3 MPH.

Some of that improvement was weather related (DA = -1,267 on the faster run versus -12 on the slower) and driver related (60' = 1.693 on the faster run versus 1.850 on the slower) but most of it was certainly due to the VRP pulley and VRP engine tune.

Amazingly the ET is even lower than Stephen K's NOS-powered run of 11.496. Looking at his overall numbers, its clear he was making a lot more power than me (trap speed of 126 MPH) but it looks like the tires didn't want to stick to the pavement with all that power (60' of 1.956).

Also amazingly, there is only one Dragtimes-posted 55K run on street tires with a lower ET, DJE55's 11.389 second run in his E55. It's unusual to see an SL55 with ETs in line with the faster E55s.

Definitely a combination of good tuning, a good track, and good weather conditions!

Very impressive as your SL55 out weighs the E55 by a good 300+lbs!!

Great runs! Again, those two back to back passes were the best head to head runs I've had in a LONG time. I was very impressed by your car and your driving

Hi, Mike. Missed seeing you at Milan this summer. It'll be good to have you back!

Ahmad, I appreciate the kind words--actually, I appreciate the kind words from all the follow-up posters--but I think your car is even more impressive. How many MB's generate enough torque to snap their rear axles? You've done a great job setting up and running your car. It was a blast running head-to-head against you.
