I wanted to share some pics of my Pewter Silver/Charcoal SL55 AMG and how I envisioned my MB from the start. After over a year and a half, I'm still truly enjoying it. I waited about a month and a half for my custom-made 20" polished 3-piece HRE 547Rs w/ 9.5" fr & 11.0"rr to come in. With Michelin PS2s P255/30ZR20 fr & P295/25ZR20 rr, 15hrs+ of suspension modifications/lowering, and some subtle niceties like a Lorinser decklid spoiler and smoke clearance lenses......I'm completely ecstatic on the final transformation! Anyways, I hope my fellow enthusiasts enjoy the pics as much as I do!
I noticed that you have the smoked lenses on your car. I would like to do the same thing and have tried to remove the orange lenses per the manual with no success. How did you remove the lenses and where did you get the smoked lenses?Originally Posted by RU_MATRX

Hey Lou:
The way to access the clearance lenses is through the plastic fender shroud inside the wheel well. I believe that removing 4 screws will allow you to access the lense and bulb plug which disconnect easily. I watched my suspension/tire guy do it. As far as smoking them, it comes from a smoke tint spray paint for taillight lenses. Your lenses will show red at night though it's nice. Just make sure that the edges are sprayed as well to prevent an amber ring around the lense. Also, putting a coat of clearcoat for protection works well too.
Here's the product. I've done a lot of searches for a smoke paint that turns amber with no luck. It seems that this VHT Nightshade is the universal and only commonly available product on the market right now. Finally, try a search to find a better price as I've seen it at a different online store for around $8.00 a can:

Good Luck and enjoy!
