Upgraded to anthracite alcantara headliner

Thanks to my man Steve/MBenzNL I now have the proper headliner in my car. It used to be the light plastic type, now it is luxurious dark alcantara.

Official Designo Alcantara Antrazit Y83 of course

Ahhhhhhhh! All is now right with the world!

I like your steering wheel. I also notice that you have shift paddles. How did you get them?

The shift paddels are part of the "Speedshift Plus" upgrade from AMG. They were installed in Affalterbach.

Here is the AMG catalogue sheet where it is advertised:

sprins,

Very cool. I have similar headliner in my R230, except it is not Designo.

I just put in an inquiry to Steve about getting paddle shifters in my R230, I am hoping we can figure something out.

Regards,

-m

Steve just cracked the code on the steering wheel mystery. When I was at his workplace he had just installed a 2006+ AMG steering wheel on his 2006- non-AMG car. Working of course. I'm sure he'll be able to help you.

VERY INTERESTING!

Who is this Steve..? Respect!
I would MOST DEFINATLY like my paddles to work in my non-AMG-car (2005 SL600)!
Is that possible, you mean..?

How do I get in touch with this Steve for some info..?
Anybody..?

Nope. Steve/MBenzNL had the nappa-leather airbaig laying on a shelf. Couldn't wait to install and goes nicely with the alcantara/Nappa steering wheel.

Should be possible AFAIK. Just change some parts, do some magic and presto!

Steve is a user on this forum under the name MBenzNL, just search for MBenzNL on this entire forum and you'll get a bunch of feedback.

You can send him a PM or visit his website and contact him there: http://www.mbenznl.com/

Thumbs up

WOW!

So its now possible too install working paddles on a car that don't have paddles on it original?
I have been told that it would be impossible before this thread.
This is great news!

I would definitely want this done since I already have a steering wheel with non working paddles..

Maxabo, don't leave me out if You get some info on this since we both live in Sweden!

Don't sweat it.
I'm all over it allready.
Sent him both PM here, and a mail to his company...

It's obviously a guy (company) located in the Netherlands.
So it's on the right side of the big water, from our point of view...

Steve,

I am desperately waiting on news for this from our email exchange, I have paddle buttons in all my MBs but I want paddles - especially in my R230!

Thanks,

Please note that the paddles shown on the pics above are NOT the 2006+ model paddles. They are the "AMG Performance paddles" for models built before 2006 and they will not fit Nicke's steering wheel.

Note the two screws on the back of the paddles... they are only on the relatively rare pre-2006 model paddles. These paddles are a little smaller than the 2006+ paddles and do not have that nice feel to it, that the 2006+ paddles have.

The 2006+ AMG paddles can be fit in a pre 2006 model, but it requires some pretty complicated tech work done to them.
