No answers to your question, so I'll speculate for you.

I've run against a C6 Z06 at MIR and he was a few tenths faster than my heavily modified SL55. I've also run against a modified C5 at Milan and was several tenths faster than him.

But you're looking for a standard C6 versus a stock SL55. My guess is that it'd be a driver's race. Car and Driver has the C6 being a few tenths faster:But the automatic SL55 is very easy to launch and run consistently whereas a six speed Corvette requires quite a bit more touch to achieve max acceleration.

FWIW....

both healthy cars- you might win by a nose up to 140-145.. then the vette needs to go into 5th which is seriously overdrive and you might be a smidge faster...

there is sumthing seriously wrong with my car. but i geuss if i fix it i will be putting around 600 hp to the wheel.

I see that top gear acceleration is much better in the SL55 than the C6.

the C6 also gets MUCH better highway gas mileage though.

but then I see that C/D observed (which I'm guessing was some pretty heavy foot driving) was better in the SL55 @ 16 mpg, and 15 mpg in the C6

does anyone know what each car revs at @ 60mph in top gear?

2007 Väth SL65 AMG. 2007 BMW Alpina B5s. 2007 BMW M6.
I don't see how the C6 would take the SL55..?

With allmost 100HP more than the Vette, it shouldn't be a problem.
The Vette is lighter, but not light enough.
And the faster it goes, the less important the weight...

Just my thoughts...

hmm I'd think the C6 would have slight advantage... the C6 weights 1056 lbs LESS than the SL55. When it comes to weight comparison of the two vehicles, the SL is a PIG.

SL has about 25% more power with about 33% extra weight.

If you wanted to compare it to the newer C6 with 436 hp, even bigger difference

I haven't had my car on a dyno since the last set of mods were installed but based on its 1/4 mile time and trap speed, its rwhp should be around 500 give or take a little.

most stock C6s trap 114 stock (that i have read about). there are also two different motors depending on what year C6 it is. I dont recall which yr is which motor. But those LSx motors have ridiculous top end so it does not entirely surprise me to see one pull an SL55, especially considering the significant weight difference.

05-07 C6 had the 6.0 LS2 (400hp)

08+ have the 6.2 LS3 (436hp with optional exhaust, 430 without)

7.0 LS7 is the C6 Z06 engine

6.2 LS9 is the ZR-1 engine

I just picked up a 2008 C6 LS3 A6 (Automatic 6 Spd) a couple of weeks ago and a friend of mine just got a Sl55 and wants to race. Don't the Sl55's put down 400-425rwhp bone stock. I would assume that with 500hp from the motor and then going through that tranny and rear diff would absorb a good amount of power 15-20%. With the weight difference of 1000lbs and the C6 LS3 putting down 375-390rwhp I do not really see the SL55 being much of a probably as long as the people driving know how to drive.

Auto is going to rob your C6 of some power but stock to stock I think think the new C6 with 425bhp will be slightly quicker. Will be close though. I'd rather be driving the SL though. As regards "knowing how to drive," both are just stomp and go. Let us know how it pans out
