Exclamation Help: Do I have 030 pkg wheels?

Initially when I noticed I didn't have staggered tires on I decided to visit a local tire shop. They took out a measurement caliper and measured the front wheels at 9" and rears at 10". I'm sure it was closer to 8.5" and 9.5" but they weren't reading it accurately.

The tires are 275/30/19 in the fronts and 275/35/19 in the rears. I really need to get new tires.

So now, I'm totally confused as to what tire sizes I should run if this really is an 030 pkg wheel. I don't think the car came with the 030 option but maybe the previous owner bought these wheels.

Any help is appreciated!

IMHO, your car does not have the 030 package but your wheels are 030 two piece and expensive. Your tires are the same size as my 06 with the 030 and the rims look the same.

Do you think these wheels were a special option? how much expensive? Also what tire sizes should I put on them?

Thanks!

The wheels were part of the 030 package so I don't know what the OEM price is. I'll bet the former owner paid a lot for them at a dealer. I don't believe they were a option in 2006. If you ordered the AMG non-030 package you received 18" 5-spoke rims that replaced the standard multi-spoke turbine rims; check with your dealer. However, there have been several full sets for sale recently on eBay and this website that sold almost immediately in the $3500 range without tires. A word of caution though- there are less expensive clones for sale on eBay so check the stamping and forging numbers (remove one tire) to ensure you have OEM rims. The caliper readings although questionable may be right and you may have after market rims. Here's the OEM standard size tires: 19-inch twin-spoke AMG alloy wheels, multipiece, size 8.5 x 19 with 255/35 R 19 tyres (front) and size 9.5 x 19 with 285/30 R 19 tyres (rear). From my perspective this combination works very well.

From what I can see in the picture those do look like the AMG 2 piece wheels that came on the 030 package. My '05 had those wheels on it when new and they were put on by the dealer as an extra cost option.

I just confirmed with my dealer that the SLs come with 18" not 19", so you like others have mentioned, you have the 030 package wheels. Somebody paid a lot of money for those

Tire sizes seem wrong. Regular SLs have 255/40/18 & 285/35/18. I'd expect similar widths and lower profiles for the 19 inch wheels. Great looking set of wheels though.

If you take one of the wheels off, the dimesions should be cast into the backside of one of the spokes along with a manufacturer mark. The size should say something like 8.5X19 ET30.

Another way to tell if it is a 030 is by looking at the brake rotors. The 030 package cars should have two piece rotors. The disc should look like it is held onto the hub with large rivets.

You have got the 030 wheels i belive.
They are the same wheel as the sl65 but you have the silver finish, where as sl65,s had a titanium finish in the centres.
there is an option on the sl65 to go to 10 inch rears, this is the same set as i bought of e bay 4 months ago for $3500 with tires,
I belive the price in the states is about $10,500 at at dealer for this option,
When i bought my sl55 in August i asked my local dealer for a price up here in Canada,i nearly died, they wanted $16,000 cad with taxes for the wheeel and tire package, hench my friend e bay came to the rescue.
BtW your car looks awsome enjoy

happy motoring bc brit

If you can take a picture of the back of the wheel, that would help a lot.

To Check if you really have the 030 package:
1. Brake rotors are two piece rotors-check to see if there is a detachable hub fasten to the rotor itself. If there is one you have compound brakes which comes with the 030.
2. Alcantara Steering Wheel in lieu of standard AMG leather.
3. No spare tire-Due to the LSD, MB does not include their typ donut spare. Instead they provide an air pump with a can on gunk sealant for flat repairs.
4. Check on the inside of you gas filler door to see the added 030 tire size/air pressure sticker. If you have this then the rating of your tires is consistant with the 030 package of 186 mph tire ratings.
5. If you can go beyond 155 mph, then the limiter has been increased to 186 mph and you have the 030.

What you've posted is correct, however he does not have the full 030 package - the quickest way to tell is the front facia that has inlets for brake cooling.

You never know.. they might not be genuine AMG wheels, some replicas look near identical and are 1/3 the price

I think it is just the 030 wheels because the rotors don't look slotted in the front!

Why not take your jack out, remove a front and rear wheel and read the sizing, make and part number off the wheels? That will tell you exactly what you have.

You do need new tires as those are all wrong.

I bet these are AMG 2 piece as they look the part. They are just shod with the wrong tires. They might not be the 10 inch wide rears like the 030 package cars but they still are a great looking wheel.

Did you just get this car? I thought I saw a car just like this on e-bay?

Those appear like OEM 030 package wheels..... which look great btw! But the car is not a 030 car.

If it was, it would have the front bumper cover with the vents, and the brakes would have 2 piece rotors. Additionally, no SL55 has a spare. Mine has the air pump and fix-a-flat and is not an 030 car.
