How common is the Designo edition?
I looked at a 2007 SL55 with this option and I love the smooth leather dash and door panels.

Designo is great...
Although it's obviously a matter of preference 
, I think the Designo option is a gorgeous enhancement which also makes the car even more exclusive (estimated US production number of 583 total SL55s for 2007 per AMG PL data). In my case, the Designo Mystic White paint was a $7K option.
I was told the entire vehicle is painted twice, the paint has special/exclusive pigments which are not used on other MB metallic paints. The application is a special process which is more involved requiring more time and work to manufacture.
I had been looking at a Silver SL55 with P30 package, but when I saw this paint, I couldn't resist. Plus, it had every option (including P30) and a "black exclusive" interior. Love the contrast as I've only seen the Designo Mystic White with "stone" interior.
Anyway, just my thoughts from an obviously biased individual. Happy Holidays to all!!!

2004 SL55 and 2004 FX35
I own a 2004 Designo Expresso Edition with Black Mocha paint and Sand interior. The soft nappa leather covers the entire interior including the dash. It also has exclusive maple wood trim, and "designo" leather trimmed floormats. Its a beautiful and unique SL 55!

Yes, the SLK had 2 Designo editions. A mustard yellow paint with black leather and black wood trim, and a copper paint with 2 tone black and copper leather trim. Honestly, in my opinion, they are not very attractive cars, and do not have any $$ premium on them in the used car market.
