What to Buy Next After Totaled 06 SL55
It's not "official" yet but it looks like my 06 SL55 that was hit on New Year's Eve will be declared a total loss. Now, what to buy next -
1. 06/07 SL65, brillant silver to match my 05 E55?
2. 08 CLK63 black/black convertible that is drop dead beautiful?
3. 06/07 SL55 with the 030 package like my other car?
4. 07 BMW 650Ci black/tan sport convertible that is awesome?
5. 09 C63 optioned the way I want it?
6. Other?
With prices dropping so fast all of these cars are within reach. Opinions please!

Use to own a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and 2007 Jeep Liberty. No longer a Jeep fan but, your comment may be accurate. I might add though that I've taken a lot of driving courses and never had an accident in 30+ years. I guess my number was just up on this one, but I was not at fault and the other driver was cited. Too bad though because my SL and my E55 were both at the detail shop and I had a choice of which vehicle to pick-up first. I chose the wrong car to get totaled in-

+1 on the SL65, the power simply can't be matched, after driving it (as I'm sure you know) nothing else is the same. Sucks about your old one. Sad loss. How did it happen?

Late this afternoon (New Years eve) I picked-up my SL from the detailers who had just polished and seal coated the paint and tinted the windows. My car looked amazing! About a mile from their shop the car in front of me suddenly slammed on his brakes! I did the same, my ABS kicked-in and the SL came to a sudden but controlled stop. Safely stopped I quickly glanced into the rear view mirror just in time to see the car behind me still at full speed (est. 45-50 mph) plow right into me. The momentum was so great my SL was pushed forward 3' into the car in front (Honda Civic). After taking stock of my condition (not injured) I got out of the car and went to see how much damage there was. The car behind me, a late model Toyota Avalon, was partially wedged underneath my SL and the drivers side airbag had deployed. The driver was okay but shaken and her car had obviously sustained major front end damage and my rear end was a mass of twisted bent metal (what a car, they don't build them any better!). I then went around to the front end and discovered that I had sustained major damage here too (caved in). My TeleAid (just activated yesterday) was active and the police had already been summoned. There were no skid marks and the driver was cited for following too close and reckless! Needless to say my SL was a total wreck IMHO! My SL and the Avalon were not driveable and had to be forcefully driven apart and towed. It was VERY disturbing to see my SL torn apart again because I believe this caused even more damage. More on this later. Right now I'm just trying to put the pieces together. Hellva way to start the New Year!

There are SOOOO many choices out there. Whats the max budget?...and weekend car, daily drive, or...?
That will probably determine which way to go...some of the cars mentioned are awesome, but impractical to drive even close to daily, just to much car, attention, you know the deal...

Still No Decision, Maybe Monday
I was in moderate to heavy traffic. I drive that road all the time and know that the intersection I was approaching backs-up before the left turn signal so I'm usually in the right lane. I couldn't get over to the right before the light and that's when the Civic stopped due to the backup. ![smash](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smashfreak.gif)
Still no word on the damage. So far it's taken three days to tear the car down. Next step is the frame rack to determine if there was any frame damage; that's Monday.
I'm researching many of the cars you all have suggested. All are excellent choices/alternatives. THANKS!
