Looking at 07-SL55s...

Hi Guys:

I am looking at giving up CLK55 for an 07 SL55. However, I am seeing prices all over the place. Low would be high $50's for a high mileage car in a less than optimum color to over $100 for a car with 2k on it and loaded.

What should I expect to pay for a MINT, 07 with 5-15k on it loaded?

Thanks,
D-

IMHO: If you are willing to travel, should be able to buy @65k-70k. try cars.com : autotrader.com

i would say that for a loaded 07 with less than 10k miles you should pay 65-66k retail.

Well I just bought an 07 last week but probably paid too much. It had every option I wanted.

030 package
designo
panorama
parktronic
voice control
bi-xenon headlights
trunk closer
keyless go
active ventilated seats
3k miles and CPO
msrp 160k
I paid 83k

I have seen a couple local to me - Silver/Black loaded minus no designo and no 030 with 13K for $75 and a Black/Black loaded minus no designo and no 030 for $80.

They are at a high-end "pre-owned" dealer. I have dealt with them before and have good things to say. I just do not want to over pay.

What are your thoughts on the 030? What is in it? Do I want it?

These are the two cars that I am looking at. Good prices or too much?

the "buy now" is too much. way too much. the bidding will creep up to 66k or so and will stop there... and that (as i said in my previous post) a fair neighborhood for those cars.

wait for the auctions to close without a sale (most likely) then call the dealer and make your offer. if the dealer owns it for too much money - the deal will not happen but this is not your problem. find another one. if the dealer bought the car right - your offer will be accepted with some haggling.

Cool -I will check with them. This is at least the 2nd auction on both cars. Do you think 70 and 75 is still too much for each?

I think the black one around $72k would be a good buy. It's a shame they are not being sold by a MB dealer so you could get it certified.

I have looked at the MB dealers, but they do not seem to have much in the way of inventory.

I would think that...
65-68 would buy a really nice one, based on what they are doing at the auction. That would give a guy a fair profit (for $60k of risk) and still get you a nice one. MB dealers want nothing to do with these cars. They just recently got the 08's out of the house, they don't want to see anything that looks like it...
FWIW, I have an 06 with 030 that I want high 50's for, maybe that helps you with the numbers.

It is a very expensive option ($14k new)and probably not worth it to most people. It adds:
larger front brakes
limited slip diff
186 speed limited
SL65 front bumper

The designo option was the most important thing to me but I was not unhappy to get 030 as well it just made the car a bit more expensive even second hand.

030 also includes...
the alcantara ergonomic steering wheel, as well as the "Nurburgring" tuned suspension. You also forgot the 19" 3 piece wheels, which are stupidly expensive on their own. To me, worth a bunch, simply because of rarity. Less than 10% of SL55 production has this option. I just like having something a bit different.

70 is too much. they wholesale for 60-62. your fair retail is 65-66.

Now I am thinking about the 030 - I like the way that sounds... I am guessing that finding one will be tough.

I agree with Alex....
who I think is also in the industry, right? You should know however that it is not that seller's style to give up lots of $$ on price. He asks large money and sticks to it.

If you want to see a dreamer, there is a 2007-030 with Designo, 1,000 miles on Autotrader for $98,995. It is a nicely optioned car but talk about being out of touch with reality.

They were asking $105k on my car originally and came down to $83k so you never know. Just think about it. 1/2 of msrp with only 1k miles.

The car is killer, but I just cannot see paying that much for what is essentially the same car with 5 or 10k on the odometer. Not trying to sound cheap, but I am not real interested in "bending over" either...

OK - so I am continuing to watch a number of SL55s locally and on Ebay...and the pricing is all over the place - but nothing seems to be moving.

Can someone give me a complete list of option and packages avaible for 2007?

Thanks,
David-

This car has been on ebay and is now listed locally with a dealer that I have done business with before in Naples.

What would be a fair price???

Id have to go back and check..
my watching, but i think that car did 67ish twice, and didn't meet hs reserve. Depending on the fees, etc, I don't think a touch more is unreasonable, provding it's all there. Miles, color, and 030. I could be wrong. I haven't been yet today and it's 9AM, so....

I was thinking 70 would be about right, but he is asking 80 - which just seems too high. However, I have the January Black Book here on my desk and they do not even list the 07 SL55 yet - I am guessing there are just not enough sales yet to price it out.
