Impressions After 1,000 miles

Hey everybody,
I took delivery 2 weeks ago, and I am really impressed with the car. My final verdict is that it is NOT the ideal weekend, fun car to drive ( hey that's what a 98 355 gts f1 is for!) , but it IS absolutely the best daily driver/ long trip exotic car. I had lots of trouble getting the wheels I wanted, the 18'AMG multispoke, and got stuck with the standard AMG wheels ala SLK. Does anyone have the 19inch AMG splitspoke? I need a part number on those, and also what tires come from the factory with the 19inchers? I want to try to get them right away because the dealer feels guilty for neglecting my incessant calls to get the multispokes, and have offered to give me "near" retail on the current wheels. Anyhoo happy driving! Oh and for anyone in the US who wants to activate the tv go to www.nav-tv.com, they install the factory euro equipment.

I think he is stating it is a little too civilised - perfect for regular use but not that on the edge excitement of say a Ferrari which you would only use on weekend or for an hours blast.

I'd go with that too.

Which is not to say the SL55 is a bad car.

I agree with that - the SL55 lacks the last ounce of handling finesse which the Ferrari has in abundance but the noise and bone-jarring ride of the Ferrari soon gets to you.

The SL55 is a much better car for virtually all types of driving and I have to say I'd love to cruise down the PCH from Carmel to Santa Barbara in the SL55 with the roof down. Relax... There used to be an open-air restaurant called Nepenthe at Big Sur overlooking the coast, just fabulous views and I'm not just talking about the gorgeous native from North Carolina who was with me at the time...

Part No.

According to the German AMG Catalog, the part number for the front set is: B6 6 03 1092. And the back is: B6 6 03 1093

They call them: Styling IV AMG Doppelspeichen-Rad mehrteilig

The fronts are 255/35 R19, the rear is 285/30 R19. As to the make, I do not know.

Perhaps someone else can shed a light on this as I will be getting my car in March.

AMG recommend Bridgestone Potenza RE 050 A.

The WIS numbers for the mounting guidlines are 40.10-P-0003I resp. 40.57.

For 19 inch rims, the P-Zero Rosso doesn't seem to fit the bill, this is the range of sizes it comes in:

275/30 ZR19TL 96Y
295/30 ZR19TL 100Y
305/30 ZR19TL 98Y

235/35 ZR19TL 91Y
245/35 ZR19TL 93Y
275/35 ZR19TL 100Y

245/40 ZR19TL 94Y
255/40 ZR19TL 100Y

245/45 R19TL 98W(no lbl)(*)
