When I bought my used SL55, I didn't know the Pano roof was an option and they are very limited in the Columbus, OH area so I never saw one before.
Has anyone swapped out a regular roof for a Pano roof and is this even possible?
If so, where would you get one?
Could you get it from Mercedes?

Your best answer to this question would be to contact your dealer's service department to see if this can be accomplished.
I have the pano roof on my SL55 and have to say that this really is something that I wouldn't be able to do without.
The pano roof is striking and other than lowering the top, is something that every person who rides in the car comments on.
The amount of light and scenery the pano roof lets in, along with providing a very quite ride is somewhat of an engineering masterpiece.
It's a shame you weren't able to get this from the factory, but hopefully you are able to have it installed.

If you could find one at a junk yard, I think it would be easy to swap the parts. Despite all the cautions a dealer service dept will try to tell you.

I do not have a pano roof, however in a warm country with the roof down
most of the time I can't see the point. I think it's a case of wanting all the extras you can get. For instance.
Keyless,hardly ever use it, TV only used once in many years, massage seats,
never used, linguatronic, never used, telephone, people always phone my mobile, all you need is air con and sat nav, great engine and nice wheels!!

I agree, I have pano roof and my shade is always closed. When I want to feel the sun the top is down. I guess if I didnt have it I would want it also. IMO save the cash

I guess it like a sun roof. I have a sun roof on most of my cars, I never use them ,but on dull days I guess they let in some light,if I can remember
to slide back the cover back which my valeter always closes for some reason.:
I think a Pano roof is maybe more important on a light colour for contrast,
but on Black, forget it.
