SL55 noise
Hi, there is a rushing noise from behind my head,with engine running heard mostly when
stationary with radio off, less noticeable when on the move.
I have conflicting answers, some say fuel pump and some say tank baffle.
It's like water rushing through a pipe, any ideas would be welcome.

and almost goes on left hand bends, surely this must eliminate the pump!

2008 SL55
Here is the whole story. The car had 52 miles on it. I noticed the noise when I picked it up. It was brand new and I had it for one day. I went back to the dealer and they agreed something was wrong with it. I was so upset by this that they had another sl55 on the lot of the exact same options and color, they swapped me out the cars and I took the other one home. No noise on that one. I inquired what the sound was on the other one, and they said it was the feul pump. So out of curiosity I started up the old on on their lot after they replaced the pump and the sound was gone. Good dealer /customer service I would say.

be payable, however it's only done 25k with a full merc history, so I am waiting to see if there will be any good will from MB. Keep your fingers

Icidently love your spoiler, I have a Lorinser spoiler but got it before I saw
the 63 spoiler. I slightly prefer yours so looks like something else to fork
out for beside the pump.

Same sound
I just noticed the same sound in my '08 55 yesterday. It has less than 6000 miles. Does anyone know if the fuel pump issue is a "fix it right away" problem or can it wait? I have an appt already next month for my A service (had the car 12 months). I don't want to change it if I don't have to. Is this only an aesthetic issue at this point? Thanks.

My car is a 2002, the dealer said they sometimes make a noise and was happy
to let me carry on driving it. It's however getting on my nerves so I want to fix it. whether it's the pump or a baffle they still have to drop the suspension
to get to the tank. Your car will be under warranty, but I agree a newish car
should not have surgery.

It truly will not effect the driving of the car. It purely is a pain in the butt distraction. The service forman also told me it will change in volume with the amount of fuel in the tank and with temp. Go figure. Still haven't heard it in this one. I agree that surgery of that magnitude on a new car is concerning.
