SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: Finally Lowered my SL55

Stock height. I went with the taller profile tires because of that. If you go 25's you have to lower the car or it looks funny. I wanted a beefier look to fill the wheel wells. Thanks for the compliments. I like the rims by the way, very modernizing for the car.

Toyo Proxes 4 are 26.9" tall and 11.7" wide which are a tad bit smaller than the Goodyear F1 Asymmertic 292/30/20, but good to know they fit!
I was also looking at Toyo Proxes T1R 305/30/20 which are 27.2" tall and 12.3" wide which are probably too tall and too wide.

Hi, does lowering the car change the ride quality, it's something I would
not like to loose, although I might get some 19 inch Carlsson wheels
without lowering.

+1 I have 295/25/20 without any issues on 10" width wheel. I would try to stay to close to the stock rolling diameter since our gears are tall enough already which is why 295/25/20 were my tire size choice for the rear.
To me the sidewall is pefect (when lowered). It really also depends what size the rim is (width) to avoid the "streched" look.

I have Toyo TIR all around also. 255-35-20 in front and 305-30-20 in back. I run them on 20 Carlsson"s. Ther was a rub in front when I turned sharply but we shaved the strut bolt slightly and it eliminated the rub. If I hit a large depression I can hear a very slight rub, but nothing major. We checked with Carlsson before purchasing and this was their recommendation. Before , the tires looked stretched but the wheels looked great. Now there is more rubber under the wheel and the ride is better also. I should mention that with this set up the wheels are not as exposed on the sides, i.e. more protection.

I'm hoping that a taller tire will help with traction with the power I'm going for.
Wow!! Got any pics? Do you know what the offset is?

alterations. I see you had to modify, but I would probably put 285 tyres on.
Thanks!!

The mod was very minor. The top strut nut just needed to be filed slightly. We thought originally that the plastic liner might have to be cut but that was not the case. I still like the Carlssons' very well. My second choice were the Rentechs' as I also wanted light weight wheels, not boat anchors. Got a good price through Billy at Motorwerks of Michigan. 1-268-668-6793.
