SL Windscreen - Comments

I just purchased a 2005 SL55 a few months ago and it is just now warm enough to drop the top. I never checked the Windscreen in the bag. Somehow it got broken.
I just wondered if many owners use it and if I would miss it if I didn't replace it. Does it make that much of a difference and how does it look installed?
Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I haven't drive my SL topless many times, but you can get SL Windscreen at ebay cheaper than the MB dealer.

I use mine all the time, even with the top up, it makes a great screen for the headlights of cars behind.

With the top down, it really reduces the amount of wind coming forward. I think it looks ok up and just about invisible when it's down.

I agree with Velvet Fog. With the top up and the windscreen in place you can roll down all the windows and it significantly cuts down the wind. With the top down and windows down you also still get a lot of wind reduction. I don't like the top down and the windows up...

i hate that screen ..... i took mine off rite away .... @ night its hard too see through it if u have it up , makes the front look so small when up . the only thing its good for is too reduce wind .

skelchner,

I have two, if you want one, make me an offer. If you take your car to work and don't want your hair to look like you rolled out of bed straight into your office, you need one of these.

Thanks to all of you for your comments.
I thought that was pretty much what I would get back.

I was actually more concerned with the looks rather than the wind reduction.
I could pretty much care less if the wind is blowing through my hair.

There is piece of the plastic that broke off at the bottom of mine.
I will glue it back on and then if I like it, I will look into replacing the whole screen.

Thanks for the offer, Marcus.
I will get back with you if I decide to purchase one from you.
Reply to my email address so I have your email.

I think it looks way more sporty with top down , rollbar up with no windscreen.

hmmm, if I wasn't interested in wind reduction I wouldn't even have it on the car... top down, windows down, rollbar down gives the sleekest look. I only pop the windscreen up on the freeway.

Everything down looks the coolest, windows up and screen up keeps your doo intact on the way to work.
