Hail Mercedes Hail SL63
Well Mercedes you really have made a sports car, instead of a Grand Tourer!
Picked my SL63 up on Saturday and I am truly smitten.
It's looks, it's handling, it's tranny, it,s sound track, need I say more!!
I don't know why there has not been more super threads on this car.
It feels quick although I am not pushing it. And the looks I get, wow!!
The SL55 may have more torque but the 63 would leave it on a twisty road.
This is the best MB I have ever bought, I am not missing the 55 or the 65.

SL55 AMG
nice color; nice car indeed...went to the local dealer over the weekend to check one out again and see if it's growning on me...it's not...the front end still looks funny and cheap (like something off of a plastic laden economy car or pony car from the late 90's) ... the rear end is great though! and the performance is very nice!

it felt better on bends than my 600 the engine sound and power delivery were similar. The only trouble with the 65 is when you need to carry four people especially of the older generation I always picked the 600. The
63 feels quite different to the 55, first you think the ride is firmer but on
comfort setting it's still superbly comfort. The real magic is using the paddles
and revving the engine, it's incredibly addictive!! Some people would think the plastic bits look cheaper, but the car looks so much more aggressive. I think
this car will steal sales from cars like Porsche, but with more comfort.
In the cabin it's quiet, until you press the throttle then you get far more noise than the 55. Take today, I took it to work, I blipped the throttle before
switching off. Where I work there are car tuners and a paint shop. Every one
came out to see and hear, there must have been 20 guys looking and drooling. I am looking forward to the drive home.

i love the carbon package on yours!
do you mind taking a picture of the diffuser? i want to know if the oem carbon diffuser have real vents or are they just "fake vents" like the one on the non-carbon diffuser?
Thanks!

Thanks all for the comments. The colour is Paladium Silver, I would never
have chosen it, but when I walked into the showroom it hit me in the eye.
The carbon pack definitely goes with it.I am not sure it would go with black.
I will take a close up of the diffuser tomorrow, the trouble is you loose so much detail because you have to make the pic smaller.
The thing I LOVE about the car is using the paddles, only up to about 4500
revs at the moment, but even with hardly any throttle the acceleration is
magic!! Incidentally any one got any ideas on running in.

This car is AMAZING. It looks wider lower all together so much more raw
than the 55. It almost looks like a black edition, perhaps it's a Grey edition.
I got an incredible deal, 65k for my cars 8k off the new car and 3.9%
finance. Also 09 plates have just come out so no new numbers until September. I urge anybody with spare cash to test drive this car, it feels
so hi tech compared with the 65 and the 55, in fact when it comes to handling the 65 and the 55 feel like mattresses.
I have never woke up so eager for the drive to work!!
Thanks guys for your comments, this is one extremely HAPPY guy.

04 SL55 (sold),05 SL55, 09 SL63, 07 C2S cab Porsche,
no, actually they had a "tech specialist" come out and look at it. He states that the rattle I'm feeling in the floorboard is a valve opening and closing. he says this is "normal" Now, this is the 3rd SL class AMG I've owned and never experienced this problem. Further, I've test driven multiple SL63s since I've been experiencing this and none of those cars share this same problem that is "normal". Car feels like a damn rattle trap.
Therefore, I'm going to consult an attorney over this. The car was purchased in and delivered in CA and I live in Vegas so I will be looking into Lemon law regulations in both states.

So have you tried RS (race start) mode yet? I was on a open country road today and tried it out a few times. It is crazy fast. You rev to 4000 rpm and then take your foot off the brake and the car does the rest. It is so smooth and yet so quick, no wheel spin. I love this car

But I love this car.
When you get in you slide under the flat bottom sports wheel, turn the key
or press the button both speed and rpm dials flick to max and return and
the engine bursts into life with an amazing howl, already my body is tingling
with excitement and I haven't even put it into drive. This IS the most
exciting Merc I have ever had. Every where you go people look, I haven't
had so much interest since I bought my EVO 6 in 1998. And there's loads
to come!!
