I also asked about using an X-pipe to replace the resonators but it turns out that's not a practical option on an SL55 because the secondary cats are in the X-pipe crossover position while the resonators are further back and farther apart.
The E55 (and some other MB cars) have a different setup in which the resonator is in the crossover position which makes it possible to replace the resonators with an X-pipe.
With an SL55 the X-pipe would have to replace the secondary cats, not the resonator, and the only practical option for the resonator is a straight pipe or another resonator.

I like how it sounds. Last thing before I'd say I would do it. Is there any drone 60-65 mph? Or any drone at all when just steadily coasting around. I live in a lot of traffic areas, where highway speeds sometimes are 60-65 only, and I have a procharged z06 with gutted cats + borla stingers and umm I wake the dead. But the drone is bad at 60-67 mph. I am replacing the borlas with the stock Titanium exhaust next week.

do you think you could make another after video.. but back it up a bit.. look @ the position of the camera in the before, and look at it after. Can you try to match the before position?
Reason I ask is, cause the camera being closer.. seems like its 'distorting' the sound a bit, and not giving the true sound if it was like in the position of the before vid.

Yesterday I had the top down, and drove through a parking lot garage and it sounded real mean
I'll try to do a couple of drive by videos this week
Go do it now!
Just got mines done today and theres a noticable difference. I was considering buying a new exhaust, but after hearing this, I changed my mind.
Gives it a more deeper growl - about 30-40% louder. Makes me wonder why didn't it sound like that stock!
Heres a sample vid of it

Well you have me sold on doing this to my car!!! Thanks for the info!!
For me it looks so simple, but for them it is like a great job.
Maybe, there are some main points I should tell them, that there would be no harm to my car done. The problem is that in my country people are not very much into such tunings..
Just been to mine service and they were watching at my pipes thinking how to make it done...

I had a little rolling race with a SLK55 amg with resonator deleted, it sounded wayyyy better than stock. For SL55 it would probly be the same, sick sound.
Did they cut out and re weld in the straight pipes in place? I took mine to have this done 2 weeks ago and the shop chickened out saying they would never do this sort of thing to an AMG.
And labout would be 4 hours to remove the system chop out the resonators and weld straight pipes in place?
Sounds like BS to me.

Ummm..yeah thats BS. I have a corner mom and pop shop that would do it for me within an hour or so, the good old aura of "AMG"....but this job seems to be pretty basic.
yeah like 150shot mentioned, its BS. didn't take more than 30 minutes to get mines done
the guy is probably trying to charge you more because its a AMG thinking he'll fool you to pay more

Reading Chris W's post it sounds as though his shop wants to remove the entire exhaust, replace the resonator with a straight pipe with the exhaust on a workbench, then reinstall the exhaust. That would account for the four hours.
They said that they couldnt do the welds properly with the unit still installed on the car. I really want it to be done im just getting bored of taking my car to people who dont have the ***** to just get on and do it...
Anyone know if this would void a CPO warranty , if so for the life of whats left?
Also , its only a small part underneath the car, although most cars in service get lifted, just wondering as its nothing changed in the engine bay...

or simply buy an exhaust system
