SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: SL63 v Porsche v GTR
since when is $85K vs $125K considered "poor mans"?
$40K difference when you are at those levels already, is really nothing in the big picture.
Its cheaper than Turbo yes, but "poor mans"?? No... hardly.
The GTR is faster and in some ways better than the 911TT, the 911TT is in some ways better than the GTR.
No one car is perfect.

I can't believe you guys are comparing an SL63 to a 911TT or a GT-R.....
They are totally different cars. The SL is a grand tourer. NOT a sports car. It's heavy and far from nimble. It’s way off the straight line pace of a GT-R or 911TT.
BTW: a GTR with JUST a software flash ran a 10 second ¼ mile pass at over 129mph.
Not even an SLR can keep up with that.

I know you can get a 977 convertible but it's a soft top

If I didn't want a covertible I would pick the GTR everytime.
A GT-R ... LOL
I don't want a Japanese car that looks like an Altima with a body kit, and has as much plastic on the inside as a 90's Pontiac Grand Am. Barf.
