SL65 Engine cover question

Have a problem with a cover that has several spots from battery acid being dripped on.

My question is, has anyone been sucessful in refinishing the silver part of the cover.

What say the experts?

I know the option, $1400.00 to replace.

I was thinking of bead blasting to blend the affected area or should it be painted?

How did you get battery acid on it? I usually leave the engine cover off the car and leave it in the garage. Not sure how to refinish it..

I needed to remove the AMG logos and the signed plate from the cover so I had the body shop fill the indents, smooth it, prime it and paint it with the same hard ceramic paint as it was originally:

I didn't do it, the dealer did it when they changed a bad battery.

I thought the SL65 had the battery in the trunk like I have in the CL65.

Two, one up front to start the engine and the one in the trunk to power all the toys.

Why'd you replace your stock 600 cover? The CF on the 65 model has zero cooling effects since it's not carried under to airboxes Did you remove the AMG labels off your Calipers too? looks like you have completed your S600 to S65 transformation...

Hmmm.. the covers are interchangeable in under 30 seconds.. so why not? I think the CF looks mean.

Yes I actually wanted to repaint the calipers and put the Mercedes-Benz logo on there instead like on the SL600/SLR.

Check out this shot...

That's koool! You've done a great job! even swapped out the reg Cluster for the 65 euro version, I'm just thinking you could've easily purchased the real deal S65 w220, if you added $$ all these extra bits up to your original purchase of used S600...

No I don't think so. This stuff is not cheap - true, but when I bought my car the price difference between an S600 and a S65 with the same miles and condition was many times greater than what I paid for my upgrades.
