Leaving AMG going to Porsche
I have really enjoyed my sl55 for the last 4 years but now I need a 4 seater so I am looking to get a porsche TT cab. I'm not going to track the car but just enjoy a ride with my daughters. I would like to know if anyone who has owned or still have a porsche can tell me how the ride comfort compares to one another. I love the ride of the SL and if the porsche is anything like my old viper then I would pas in a heart beat. The viper was only fun for he first 30 minutes. If ayone can give me a heads up on the porsche, it would be appreciated. TIA

Or go with an E63/CLS63 or M5/M6 to get the best 4 seater performance compromise. Just my .02.
Good luck...

Thanks AMGFAN, I already have my07 S600. I would just like more of a sports car that I can take my daughters on the weekends. They are 5 and 8. How's the M6 cpared to the SL?

I have ridden in the E63/CLS63 and they are definitely a better car to carve up curves then my E55.

I don't really think 911 and children really mix too well ike AMGfan said. M6 has more space but it's a driver with performance undertones. the GTR on the other hand has usable back seats; and it's quite fast, worth a consideration for your needs perhaps

Vic55 can also voice his opinion on the GTR (damn you Vic)...I agree with Sunir...definitely an option...

I've had a '95 993 Carrera Cab, '96 993 Turbo, '01 996 Turbo, '04 996 Turbo Cab, '02 GT2 996, and an '05 996 Turbo S Cab and currently have an '05 Carrera GT and I can say that they have all been amazing cars. Porsche is my favorite sports car brand by far. They are superior in not only performance but in quality.

Granted kids are flexible but the back seats in the a 911 are better suited to a mid sized dog (THAT won't grow any bigger).

Thanks guys, what I'm looking for is a car with four seats but needs to be a convertible. The SL would be perfect if it has a 2+2. I will look into the M6 since that might be the next best option.

You will be happy with the TT Cab!
I had a 996TT and used the rear seats to take my kids to school. Then I recently went to an 08 S550 for more room. The TT Cab is the best of both worlds.

Ok from a driving perspective (M6) you need to be on it and ready at all times to get the most of it. If you love to drive and not just cruise and like running the rpms up to 8400 then the M6 V10 engine is great. But I have grown weary in heavy cali traffic of always wanting the most of the car and not having as much low end torque. From a dig the M6 will leave you wanted your AMG. The back seat is very very small and I have never put anyone back there. There is very limited leg room but I think you can squeeze small kiddies back there if needed but the two doors make egress and ingress a royal PITA. The M6 has a bigger back seat than both the GT-R and 997TT- definitely more than the 997TT. If you need a vert and a functional back seat you wont find it in the 997TT IMHO.
I dont think there are any true 4 person verts that also have firepower behind them. Maybe you can try an RS4

I can see your dilema, and based on my experience hind sight is 20/20, I'd opt for a C63 or GT-R for a few years.

My kids would cry in the back seat of my Porsche after 15-20 min. Back seat too small, but maybe that was partially my fault because of 6ft and all leg my seat needs to be all the way back.

When I read the 4seat part, I flashed back to this weekend when I was driving the 997tt. I had passenger of about 5'2" and the front seat was nearly touching the rear seat!
If 4 seats is truly your game, I don't think the 996/997 is going to cut it. Your kids will NOT be happy with you! lol

Okay the G37s roadster isn't working for me haha, just not really in the same class as any of the other vehicles you posted pictures of.

Probably in 2-3 years, when I decide to sell my SL, I'll probably go for a M6 vert. The backseat isn't that bad, it looks small but I've sat in the back of my friends 645, and I'm 6'3 and it wasn't so bad

I have looked at the db9 but to be honest a baby wouldn't fit back there. I love the way the AM looks but everything inside feels like it's made for a petite female, even the radio buttons are tiny.
Thanks for all the ideas AMGfan
