2009 SL550
Need opinions
I am thinking of buying either a new 2009 SL550 or a used 2007 SL55. Pretty sure that most replies here will suggest I get the SL55, but I would like some thoughts on this matter from members here, especially those who have had a chance to own both cars. Thanks!

Car Whore
What are you looking for in the car? If you aren't fully interested in going fast then get the 2009 SL550. The new look and NAV updates are nice.
Otherwise if you want speed, better performance, but can live with the older nav go with 2007 SL55.

2009 SL550
Honestly, I don't really need to go fast....just like the more aggressive styling of the AMG vehicles! In fact, I would even consider a 2007 SL550.
What would be a good price for a 2007 SL55 or 2007 SL550 with low mileage?
I know I can get a 2009 SL550 for about 10% off MSRP now plus 1.9% MB financing. Pretty good deal, I think.

If you just want styling, get a 550 with an AMG 'sport package'. I think that will give you what you want... but there is nothing like 'goin' fast'!

2009 SL550
Haha! Very true. The exhaust note sounds different too!
Do you have an idea of what is a reasonable/good price for a 2007 SL55 and 2007 SL550?

I own an 07 SL55 and have driven the 09 SL550 with the AMG package. IMHO, the SL550 was very responsive, comfortable, and a great compromise between the older SL550 and the SL55. I liked the SL550 and would buy it if I ever decided to sell my SL55.

SL55 AMG
tyrese...I'd suggest the sl550 w/amg sprt package for you. Seems like you'll be happy with that great styling and feature list and with the 380hp 5.5L on tap it's a very fast car as well.
Honestly in this country with imposed speed limit an AMG is way more power than needed; fun yes - more likely to get a ticket, you betcha!

I ran into a guy with an SL550 at the dragstrip. His car was running mid-13s, which is a good, strong number. We chatted for a bit and I complimented him on his car and his results. However instead of being pleased with his time he was actually feeling a bit of buyer's remorse over not getting an SL65.
That leads to my suggestion: spend time behind the wheel in both the SL550 and SL55 (if not also the SL600) and enjoy the decision making process. At the end of the day you might be very happy with an SL550 and if so, great! However if you really would be happier with more power, you might as well figure that out before you buy.
Good luck with the decision!

2009 SL550
I am leaning towards a 2009 SL550 at the moment, but havent made a final decision. Thinking of one of the following color combos: Diamond White/Designo Porcelain, Black/Designo Porcelain or Diamond White/Stone. Not many of the first 2 combos left in the country, so I may have to pull the trigger quickly here.

Hey Tyrese and all...I think i am going for the 2009 SL550. I think it will be more than fast for me. I been offered a red one for $82K with just the Premium package. However, i like the Diamond white and the dealer has one with Stone interior and he offered me for $86,600 with the Premium pkg plus the SL (AMG) package. I think i still can talk him down a bit more. My question is which color interior is the best with diamond white? Please post pics if you have them. Thanks.

As always, drive both. The case here is not a matter of $ but much more a difference in drivers excitement. Leave the common sense at home and go for the choice of your heart..if not, you'll regret it sooner or later. If it was a matter of money, you wouldn't be choosing at all between those two. So..go for it and make 'your' right decision.. Good luck !

In any case, welcome to the enjoyment of driving an exceptional machine. The Diamond white/ash will look beautiful.
