RENNtech was not interested with what I had in mind for my build.. Sleeving the cylinders and installing larger pistons and porting the heads and installing larger valves. They would only push their own bolt on products, which by the way do not include longtube headers. They wouldn’t even install VRP/PTE cams or create a new cam profile, which I understand their position on that.

Again, most might not agree with the extent of my build or the cost and no one to date has done what I have in mind so to each his own.

hey havoc im surprised they didnt wanna do any of that especially renntech whos the foremost expert on Mercedes in the USA and second to none except for AMG and Brabus in tuning. A couple months back i had a 500sl amg that i was interested in boring and sleeving and rasing the engine displacement. I talked to brad at renntech and a couple other techs down there and those guys are awesome. We never even discussed any of there bolton products and they never tried to push any of there products onto me. Bottom line brad told me they could build be anything that i wanted from " mild to wild" and how much i wanted to spend.

One other main thing to consider....ANY Car tuning company can claim huge power gains and they will try anything that they think will work without thinking of the negatives that come with that. Big companys such as REnntech will stay away from certain projects for the reason that they dont know what in the hell another tuner messed up on your project and also that in the future your car will fail and you will tarnish there reputation.

Bottom line havoc i understand where your coming from but let me tell you from experience and having ruined cars from these fly by night tuning companies and backyard mechanics. Stick with the Big Guys even if you have to pay alittle more its worth it. Theres a reason no one wanted to add larger pistons and all the things you want because it is plainly not worth it as there is no aftermarket for these things for mercedes. Your car is pretty much a guinea pig and something i wouldnt want in a 100k car. like i said i know you love the sl55 and its an experience but dump the car and cut your losses. Upgrade for a Sl65 and get a renntech tune. Youll have a faster car then anything evosport or any other tuner can build or promise you i guarantee that

And if I was to get something else, then I would be doing the same thing, regardless of what kind of car it was or power it has. So for me, there is no point in selling. I'm also ok with being a guinea pig because I'm the one that is pursuing this and not some tuner trying to create some parts to sell.
No worries bro!

How much are you willing to back up that "guarantee" with?

Maybe you are not as familiar with our work, but certainly these kinds of comments are totally out of line and taken in a very negative light by us at evosport.

I am not going to get into a he-said she-said thing, but you may want to expand your horizons a bit with regards to MBZ tuning houses. Also, look at who is expanding and who is shrinking over the last 3 years.

Thanks
Brad

Is he trying to say a tuned 65 is going to be faster than anything that can be done to his 55 by others, or that renntech has the best tunes by far? I have heard several good things from other vendors and would say similar results if not better can be had if you look

I don't think this car will ever be done... Havoc doesn't seem to mid so as long as he is ok it's all good.

I for one have seen entire empires, governments, and civilizations rize and fall...in shorter time than this build hahaha lol

Evosport has had it for a year now and has done nothing. Well, they actually just started to work on it and order parts. Vadim had it for 2 years and did nothing. Well, he made a few parts. I basically gave it to both companies just as they started a slump. Bad timing I guess.. Hey my car still looks and smells new!

Oh, and Victor took a year to build the engine which broke twice..

That about sums it up.

Whats happened to Evosport, I dint think their issues started until recently. It's a bit poor of the to take on your job and then let your car gather dust for 12 months. What's with these people?
Maybe sell your sl55, buy a used sl63, forget exotic mods like new cams ported heads etc and just put lomg tube exhaust headers and Weistec superchargers and their is 700hp!

Brad advised me about their issues some time ago, but last I visit he said they were getting back on track and they were busy and getting stuff done. They fully disassembled the engine and sent the heads out and ordered the Ti rods.

No, I would never sell my SL55 for a SL63.

Would the 63 with Weistec be faster than a modded 55k?

He will need spray at least to do that...dropping over 8/10ths of a sec will take a large boost in power even more so going 10s to 9s than say 13s to 12s, ET drop vs. hp and tq is a non-linear curve.

Update..

My engine is getting closer to assembly as most of the parts are getting near completion. The Ti rods are taking the longest.

I'm doing away with Vadim's Top Mounted Coolers and I've had evosport working on building some for some time now. Brad just released evosport's design.

It's been a long road and I'm nowhere near the end, but I'm still on the quest to building the most powerful 55K! Stay tuned!

Totally sick bra!! I just saw these on Evo's thread friggn look soo nice & oem yet aggressive! I'd buy a set in Red w/blk lettering if they made a set large enough for upgrades from Speedriven!

Once again so stoked to see this project rising from the Vadim ashes (his top mounts looked like ****, ie the back of my Beer fridge in garage comes to mind lol)

But these Top mounts from Evo are just awesummm

I just sat here and read this thread for the first time. I started on the 1st page about an hour or so ago. This is just crazy.

HAVOC you are my idol hehehe

I gotta tell you brother I never seen anyone have a build that took even half the time of what yours is taking. Best of luck to you and I hope everything turns out just like you plan.

I have seen guys do huge builds in other make cars and after the so called huge builds they ended up with a headache of something always braking of them running slow times at the track.

Best of luck again
