You dont chrome them.. There are chrome overlay kits from Schatz...
I always thought that the grey plastic grilles looked VERY cheap on a $125-195K car. I hate the new SL63/65 plastic vents. The new SL550 look much better..

Performance Products and others sell $200 chrome kits that go on top of the fins. There a 2 companies in Germany that make them Schatz is one, they stick on and look great.. Takes only 5 minutes to do the whole car..

If you use very limited amounts of the adhesive you can pull them off for your next car or if you want to change the look..

I did mine as well and I feel it is a big improvement over the cheap stock ones.

I installed the chromed fin kit from Performance Products and it looks great! ExecMalibu, thanks for the link.

Funny thing is, I saw them in their paper catalog, and they were like $200... online, they were listed for only $99. Sweet!

That chrome ***** is cheesy. No offense to anyone here, but save the tacky chrome add-ons for your Civics and Camrys with obnoxious fart-cans. Way to ruin a +100K vehicle.

Yes, judge my character from one post.

And while some people have class and other people don't, some also know how to properly use punctuation marks and coherently connect sentences... and some don't.

Honestly, don't get all ***-hurt, it's simply my opinion. Bling is tacky. Who knows, maybe 50 Cent might like it... while you're at, why not chrome the entire freakkin' car? It's a shame a car worth over 100K has to come with regular paint-- what on earth was Mercedes thinking!?

You are quite welcome to your opinion,to slag someone else off because you don't agree with theirs shows ignorance.
To call something *****ty and tacky means that you obviously feel that your opinion is the only one that counts.I have seen many cars on here that do not appeal to me,but I have enough respect for other peoples choices and ideas as not to offend.
I suggest you do the same ( I won't hold my breath )

I agree, you should not cheese up the car with crappy eBay accessories... however, the chromed fins is a subtle change and IMHO, looks a lot better then the standard fins.

Does it cover the whole grill or just the leading edge? Thanks.

three pcs for each hood grille, and 2 pcs for each side grille. Each one fits over the existing silver painted fin, just apply a little glue to attach. To me, it looks great... just enough chrome without making it look trashy.

I meant to ask the front grill. I'm thinking about painting it and have the leading edge chromed. I just saw the ones you mentioned on performance product; I might give it a try, too.

I read that thread, too. It seems like an expensive option tho. Maybe I'll just paint mine black and see how I like it. Thanks.
