Hi,
i just had my 12 year old load there pictures of the new grill i got fitted today.
I am would not have a clue how to do it myself.
The grill as you can see is chrome finish,with body color slates and chrome edges,it looks really good on the silver,not sure it would suit all colors.
I have the chrome fins coming for the sides and hood,i think they will compliment the grill.
On lighter cars(white,silver,ect)i think it adds to the apperance.
I am intrested in your opinions

I think that it looks nice, the only thing that probably needs to happen now is that you get chrome headlight rings to match what you have going on in the front with the grill.

i got the grill of e bay,a company called tech55,they have a couple of diffrent grills foe the sl55,some with silver slat/chrome also black with chrome.
i have also ordered the chrome fin covers for the hood and side fins(proformance parts),to tie the chrome theme together
i have seen the chrome light surounds,i gave them as miss,i really do not want to go ott,the changes i am making i belive are subtle and add just a little without spoiling an already great look.It looks really neat on silver,not too sure what it would turn out like on darker colours though.
Quality is very good and shipping was very quick,the company tech55 seem to have a good e bay profile,i am more than happy

just saw your album photo,very nice car,love the wheels,they realy suit your car.
As i said in the earlier post,you can get the same grill as mine but with black slates with chrome front profile and chrome surround,this would be the one for you imo,check out proformance parts(on the net)they have the chrome fin covers for $99.
They were posted on here over the last week or so, i checked them out and for $99 thats a bargain,i have seen them else where foe $249.

Grill looks good, I agree that the chrome fin covers would compliment your color vehicle. I am thinking about ordering the chrome fin covers as well. Send some pics once you get it completed.

No problem,i have been told the fins are on back order,so 4 to 6 weeks.
I love the pewter color on your car,i was after pewter myself but was unable to find a good example.
I think the chrome would really look good on your car,let me know if you go for it

The rings that go around your entire headlight assembly and the fins for both the hood and the side gills, you can purchase them from "Performance Parts" Mercedes Magazine and it's an easy application. I had them on my 2003 CLK500 and now I have them on my CL55. By the way, as long as you don't over do it, they will look good on black cars also. I also have the fins for the hood and the side Gill vents on my SL55 and they look very nice. I will say this though, since I had not touched my grill I elected not to do my headlights on the SL55. I want to say the smaller a car is the more congested your theme can look, so keep it to a minimum on small cars when adding extras.. Hey Mike- I just looked at your SL and she is a beauty, all you need to do for her is the hood vents, the side gills in chrome, and put a deck spoiler on your trunk. Once you have accomplished this, leave it alone outside of the mods. Your car is too small to over do it with the headlight rings and a full faced chrome grill. The partial chrome grill that bcBrit has is nice plus it's not all chrome and ghetto fabulous, so he can afford to put the rings on his SL and his is Silver, but yours is Black.

Thanks for the props and advice on the ride. I actually ordered a set of lowering links for it and want to do the ecu and tcu upgrade. I want to keep it clean and classy looking.
