Where to buy carbon fiber trim SL55 06.
Can someone send me a link to a reputable seller of the carbon fiber trim for an 06 SL55 AMG? Is it easy to install or is it better to have the dealer/service do it?
Thanks
Thanks

If you remopve the parts you can have any cf fabricator recreate them in 3k woven fiber...they use a wet or dry carbon process and can vacuum form the parts to fit just right...that's what MB does; they don't make the stuff they outsource it and put a mark up on it.

1 sand the trims to wood skin surface
2 lay the CF cloth on 2 sides together and compare the weave directions (this is the most difficult part)
3 thin layer of resin, check bubbles, wait for one day then sand
4 repeat 3
5 repeat 3
6 repeat 3
7 fully cured and polish
very easy to describe it, but difficult to do it, for step2, usually we need to try 2 times for left and right matching because when you try to adjust the symmetry the carbon weave will open up. the rest would be just skillful labor.
here is the work we made for member AMGFAN as carbon mirror housing on his SL65. This job is much difficult than the door panel but about the same for SL center console panel. The detail part is the corners but the flat surfaces!

DCT your meticulousness shows in the workmanship... a lot of guys may not know the process involved for wet or dry carbon implementations but indeed one has to be an artist in some ways and very detail oriented; working with cf, although not as nasty as glass fibre, can still be an icky experience! keep up the good work
and keep us posted with new parts as you come up with them
