Hi guys...have any of you tried fitting a Rooftop Module to your SL's?

I bought a one from www.cabrio-module.de, and got with it instructions etc, but when i wired it up, i couldnt shut the car down or anything, so i disconnected it form the CAN BUS and just left it scared incase i did some real damage!

I did everything to the letter but it was asking for a red wire with a violet strip, and i found 3 of them, and tried every wire with no results...

I dont think i got the power to the module, hence why the car started to do funny things!

I dont know if all these modules are more or less the same, but if anyone has had an experience fitting them, your help would greatly be appreciated.

I installed one of that brand six weeks ago and it worked great! The only problem I had was to remove/open the CAN-connector. I had only one wire with red stripe, I have a 03 SL55. I wrote to Cabrio-Module to improve the part of opening the CAN-connector in the instruction.

 

Hi mate. so you connected it to a red wire??

It says a Red wire with a violet stripe...there was 3, so i tried each one, with no joy...

 

I only had one Red wire with a violet stripe, and it was on top of the harness, I did not look any further so I cant say if there is more with the same coloring in my car.

 

Hi Kev i fitted one to my sl but i used the fitting instructions for the mods4cars module and it works fine it fits in the storage compartment behind the drivers seat i also fitted one of the same to my freinds sl and it took me 15 mins if you want the instructions for this fit email your email address and i will send it to you

Hi mate.....na i didnt try it.

Im just gonna buy a smartTop one instead from the place that you put me onto. Seem much easier to install.

Frightened to do it incase i damage the car lol.

At least with the LED light on, ill know if ive done it right without hurting anything.
