Stupid Trunk Leak!!! Anyone have the same problem fixed?
Just found out that I have some leak in the trunk. The leak happens from the top seals where the seals appear to join each other (see arrows in picture). It's not a ton of water where it makes a pool, but it's a lot of drops that make the carpeting wet from that point all the way to the bottom.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Had same problem here, your seals need to be conditioned/maintained for proper seal to be made. Either their to DRY & ruined/need full replacement @ Dealer, or possible if you go buy some rubber/seal treatment from Dealer or Autoparts store & massage it into seals or pay Dealer to do this maintenance service...

they don't seem too dry...they are actually very soft and ply-able which is why it's weird that they are leaking.
i hate going to dealers, are the seals something that I can replace myself?

I had and still have the same issue. Been to the dealer three time already. First they replaced the upper seal and that cured nothing. Then they adjusted the top and that cured only the drivers side. Then they replaced all the seals and the two black panels between the rear window and side of top - now both sides leak again.
HELP!!!!!!
Will be going back to dealer a forth time. I just bought the car CPO from Mercedes of Bayside and Massapequa Mercedes has been doing the work.... It cant be his hard to fix...

I fixed the problem, sold the car. Got a BMW that is a total POS and nothing works. Seems you can't win.
Basically could not get it fixed and just never put anything in the trunk that shouldn't be wet. It sucks though that it can't be fixed.

unreal. I just bought the f---ing car. I haven't been taking it to the selling dealer but that is likely next on the list... Anyone have any other ideas?
Seems there are some with issues that cant seem to get resolved and others that say it is a $10 fix.

Take of your pump
This is from my "What to look for":
The other big problem with the SL roof is that it can leak badly into the boot. This was particularly prevalent in early examples and there was no permanent cure until 2005 (the solution involves the replacement of all the seals). Thankfully this problem is now rare, but you should examine the boot lining carefully for signs of dampness and damage.
You have a pump in the bottom of the trunk - water from a leak can/will damage it - take care of it .... it's very expensive![EEK!](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)

My 2005 had it bad so maybe the 2006 models fixed this.
I would suggest this. It was pretty obvious where the leak was happening if you open the trunk and run water down the back window. Just get some clear kitchen silicone from Home Depot and carefully see if you can close the spots that the water leaks. I assume there is a correct path that needs to remain open so just figure how it's supposed to work and tactfully use some silicone to block the wrong path down into the trunk.

trunk leak
when i saw these at the dealer...i THINK it had something to do with the way the seals fishmouthed at the locations u have noted.. they appranantly work loose during vario roof operation and the fix i applied to them was to use super glue in VERY small dots to keep its intended design because it sticks to the trunk lid during the summer months and simply gets pulled apart theres a soild foam rod inside the seal that aggravates the situation but is mandatory.. all u have to do is look at it and u will see what i mean.. it has to overlap just right and stay that way.. that where superglue in exactly the right spot fixes this..use gel
