congrats!! It's a complex car with complex mechanicals and electricals. I'm fairly new myself and also have an '04. I decided to buy an extended warranty for peace of mind. Many different plans out there, they run about $3k for 5 years of coverage.

as for maintenance, it's easy to change your own oil, air filter, and other basic stuff. search the forums here for tips and tricks. anything complicated might require a dealer, and their STAR diagnostic machines.

Congratulations on your new SL55. Do your regular maintenance - oil, etc. and keep and eye on adjustments, like alignment. I would suggest you keep your side windows clean. The window regulators may break if the windows get slowed down by dirt or something else on the window. The regulators are expensive to have replaced. My 2 cents.

Can anyone recommend an extended warranty. I bought mine with one but did not transfer it in time so it got canceled. There are so many stories out there I am completely lost. Also, has it served to be worth buying these warranties for this car?

well, just search the forums, there are many different companies out there. Many have picked Chrysler Service Factory's "Used Maximum Care" plan as not all will warranty 5 yr old cars, but often it depends on the amount of mileage on the vehicle. Let us know how it goes!

Welcome to the SL club, you have a lovely vehicle. I think I was unlucky,
when my warranty ran out I didn't extend it, bad move! Shortly after I spent
8k in one year with problems. I learned my lesson. Unless it's newer than 3 years you MUST have a warranty.

I have the Fidelity Warranty, their best one, and it's already saved my butt.

Make sure a Mercedes dealer inspects it . If not done before, they can tell you what is wrong with it and what it needs.

Where do you go to purchase the chrysler warranty? Is it online or from the dealer?

Lots of forum members have warranties through Michael Case at:
