lowing with STARS system...

are there any downsides to lowering witht he stars system?

I have 2 dealers who will do it for me. one says i need shims or some ****. anyone heard of this?

My SL65 and E55 are lowered via STAR. I think it is one of the best ways, since it's so seamless. The STAR system allows you to lower the car but it has it's limit. I personally would not exceed that limit but shims have been used by other forum members. I'd try to stay away from that, personally.

Well there are various methods of mechanical lowering... do a search for "lowering links" and for "lowering washers"... lots of info on it.

Using washers is different... search for that method. He might be talking about spacing out the actual sensor so it reads a different value...

i think thats his plan, he wanted my exact tire sizes, including model so he could get the shims

E 63S Wagon Renntech, E55 Renntech, SL65, SL 55 030, ML, bunch of old ones--they come, they go...
Shims? are you sure he wasn't talking about....

the crash bolt kit that alignment guys like to use? Seeing as there is little or no adjustability in the camber, these cars do get lots of negative at low ride height. If that's what he's talking about, that's not a bad thing. My last two SL's have been lowered thru SDS with no problems at all.
