So, I've got a set of 19" 8.5/9.5 VIP Modular 3pc that were on my W211. They've been for sale for a couple of months, but since nobody is spending money on expensive wheels, I test fit them to my SL to see what they look like. They have the wrong size tires on them, of course, and they'd need small spacers look proper, but I'm considering slapping them on.
Crappy cell phone pics, but you get the idea. Obviously they'd need fatter rubber and the car would get lowered, but what do you think?

I like em... but i think one of the advantages with the SL, is that they can take really wider rims in the back...
I think they would look good, if you painted the centers black, added about a 10mm spacer and lowered the car.

That is true, but these wheels are already paid for and sitting in storage. This wheel/tire setup lists for about $6500.00 so I'd like to either sell them, or use them. Since nobody wants to spend money on high-end wheels, I may be forced to use them. Which I'm OK with. If I was starting fresh I'd go with a wider wheel out back.Originally Posted by TopEndS62

Not a big fan of black wheels. I think the design gets lost, but that's just personal preference. But yep, if I use them, I'd definitely space them out (not a fan of) and put the proper size tires. I was just looking for opinions on the overall wheel design on the car.Originally Posted by okbarnett

Believe it or not, these aren't very heavy. They're lighter than my OEM 18" E63 wheels, that's for sure.Originally Posted by JAYCL600

Love the 1/16's but I'd have to sell these before I bought yet another set. My wife already hates me.

I dont like black too much either. But I dont like chrome even more. I would paint the centers black just to omit the all chrome look and tie them more to the cars appearance. If you had a grey car, Id paint the center grey.

Ahhhh, they're not chrome. They're brushed aluminum with polished lip. Click the link in my Sig to see better pictures of them. Stupid camera phone pics aren't very good in this thread.Originally Posted by okbarnett

If you have them and you like'em then I would say put good tires on plus 15mm spacer on the rear and 10mm spacer on the fronts and you're done. Plus also a drop ofcourse. Put your money in good tires, I switched my Michelins for the Pirelli Rosso's and they are a HUGE improvement !
You know that weak belly-feeling ( am I gonna make it or not) is gone. The size of spacers also depend on the ET-values of your wheels. If you look for new wheels, well the new advance concave wheels would look very sick (or sexy). Hey, it's all a matter of taste. Make sure you are happy with it ! Good luck !
