SL55 Vario Convertible Roof Trunk Flap Problem
Hi,
I have a 2005 SL55 with the trunk flap problem. I have searched around this forum and haven't found any information on what parts to replace. So the problem is with the trunk flaps that fold in or out when the top is folding out or in the trunk. The flaps will not stay and no matter how much I adjust the bolts to hold them in place, they do not work.
My vehicle is currently out of warranty and it'll be really helpful if someone can tell me what parts need to be replaced.
Thanks

Go to an MB dealer and buy the repair kit.
Part No. 230-750-01-11
List price $62.48
It's a simple install that replaces the pieces that are bowed downwards on your car preventing the gears from meshing properly. Good luck.

Thanks for the input guys. I went ahead and purchased the repair kit: part # 230-750-01-11 (supporting plate) and the install went smooth and everything works as it should. In addition I readjusted the flaps so that while the top is down, I can close the trunk without having to lift the flap to get it to close.

Same problem with mine.....
Passenger side flap will not stay in place... bought the kit (Part No. 230-750-01-11 ) from MB but I am not exactly Mr Mechanic and have no idea how to install it. Parts Dept guy tells me they are add-ons but threads here say its a replacement and NOT an add-on. Now I am REALLY lost!
Can anyone tell me how to install?
Thanks in advance..

Vario roof trunk flaps installation question
Heys guys, sorry...just ordered the new trunk flaps..$502 and some change. Going to install them tomorrow. As far as how they need to be installed...should I install them in a closed position, open position, in between? Is there an adjustment so both work identically? How do I adjust them so they work in sync? I really don't feel like spending another $500 for Merc to install them, especially after I just bought them on my own. Any help woul dbe greatly appreciated. Private message me and I'll give my phone number for help. Thanks again.
