I'm sure most of you have this same issue.

My button feels like it has honey all over it.

I think you have to replace the whole vent to get a new switch.

Did anyone use goo-gone on the switch? What was the outcome? I don't want to ruin it.

You can buy it at any drug store. It's commonly referred to as rubbing alcohol.

I think the soft plastic coating they use on the buttons turns into a gooey mess after a few years. At lease the earlier model W203 SL's do.

Thanks for the recommendation! It worked like a charm. It only took a minute to make my buttons look and feel brand new again.

Contact cleaner
A more expensive but convenient to use on those switches would be to use aerosol "Contact cleaner" normally used to clean electronic component. They are good solvent yet does not leave any residue.

I tried using alcohol and ruined my buttons. Does anyone know the part numbers of these buttons and how to remove and replace them.
