Hey, just an FYI, MB has slashed the price on phone installation and completer kits down to just under $300 for most 05 and newer cars. The only extra part you need is a bluetooth puck. Marcus Frost recently took advantage of this and I encourage you all to consider it.

Do you have any more details on the parts needed or MB part numbers?
Thank you.

My SL65 did not have the MHI components that my E55 did, and I took advantage of this kit as recommended by Nick. Now I have full bluetooth capabilities AND I have voice control! Very cool stuff, and a steal for the price. I highly recommend this.

I asked my dealer last week on the cost of installing the Bluetooth setup (my 05 SL55 has nothing attached in the arm rest) and they quoted me at $2,200.
Does anyone have the part numbers that I may argue with them?

This is an adventure that I recently completed to add OEM Bluetooth to my 2006 SL55 (WITH Performance Option 030.) Hard to believe that someone paid $151K for this car but did not order any phone.
After seeing the VERY HELPFUL post above in re MB greatly reducing the MB OEM part prices in parts to result in a modern MB OEM System in the car, I visited my friendly local MB dealer. Indeed, the prices for the three PARTS needed has be reduced about $1,000! The MB dealer install price is 3 hours labor (figure $450+- for labor.)
The MB Parts and Part Numbers (for a 2006 SL55) are:
1. Part Number Q682-0965 :$180.00
2. Part Number Q682-0916 :$231.60
3. Part Number 6787-5878 :$493.00
4. MB Dealer install: :$450.00
GRAND TOTAL FOR OEM
BLUETOOTH PHONE (WITH
VOICE CONTROL)SYSTEM : $1,354.60
With very little effort, you can find (as I did) the No. 3 item (Above Part Number 6787-5878: $493.00) on eBay for under $170 - be sure to get the exact Part Number you need.)
Does this help?

I read this thread with great interest only to have my dealer tell me that a 2005 w/o factory installed phone option can't be retrofitted because too much of the needed wiring is not present. I really, really wanted to be able to use m iPhone in this car. They also told me that putting satellite radio service into the Command system would be north of $2 bills. Is there any way that he's wrong about the bluetooth setup and the satellite radio costing so much? I'd like to get both to work through Command but it's now looking like only the radio and then at a fairly high price considering what you get for the $$
You need to find a new dealer. If you need help with a phone kit, like Marcus said, the kit is VERY affordable now, and after that, all you will need is to buy a bluetooth puck. I have the part #s somewhere around here. Let me see if I can find them.

Nick, can I trouble you for your dealer's name? My dealer said he's researched it and my 2005 SL55 is not eligible for this. Maybe it's a mid year production change and my VIN leaves me out of the opportunity. I'm keen to pursue it still.Originally Posted by nick 55

I recently purchased the Motorola bluetooth phone puck from a VA MB dealer for $245.00 on ebay and sync'ing it with my iphone was easy. Works perfect!
