2007 SL55 Purchase Help

I'm looking at a 2007 SL55 on Ebay, 22,000 miles, gray/gray designo package, I love this color, with a 61,777 buy it now price. I called a MB dealer in the area to see how much an inspection would cost and they don't do them due to liability, the car is in Plano, Texas. I'm in Kentucky and would need the car shipped. Any thoughts about using one of the independent prebuy inspection services. I've run an autocheck on the car and it looks good. I need to get a carfax also, any advice on if this is a good price and inspections is appreciated. Thanks

Porsche guy who drives SL63 w/ perf pkg AND perf suspension
never heard that a dealer wont inspect a car. you have to have a mercedes dealer in texas inspect it before you agree to buy it. it costs about $250 to have a certified inspection.

That car looks nearly identical to mine. I had a sliver SL55 prior to this one and I can tell you that the color and designo option was the reason I bought mine. Good luck with it

Thanks for your ideas, I'm going to pass on the car, simply to far from home, MB dealer there won't inspect it, to many potentional risks for that much money. I think I'll try and find one closer to home, I just really like that color.

Sorry to jump in here but I am in a similar situation on a 2006 SL65 with 40K miles .... it's in Florida and I'm in Oregon.

However, it is at a MBZ dealership and it is a CPO car.

Are CPO units considered already adequately inspected? It was listed in the search results from MBZ's main website for CPO vehicles.

The CarFax looks clean on the vehicle and it looks like I'll have 14 months warranty or 100K miles whichever comes first based on the delivery date of Dec 2005 (2 months left on the factory warranty plus the 12 month CPO warranty).

I also once thought there used to be an option to purchase a longer CPO warranty (as long as it was still within the original 4 year factory warranty) but I could be wrong.

I travel to Florida regularly, but not sure how the used auto sales tax laws work there (Oregon has no sales tax).

Move to Oregon then ..... $77 one time title fee plus $43/yr for plates and no sales tax.

On second thought, just kidding about moving as it's already too crowded in some parts (like the East Coast).
