If you ever have a chance to see an F1 race in person, I can tell you it's a whole 'nother world to actually see these performance specs in action, rather than just on TV or read about them.

If you can ever attend it is a true eye opening experience as the cars are so fast it is hard to understand. The cornering speeds are rediculous, the smell is unique and the sound is deafening in a very different way. I think the best tracks are still the old tracks from europe..Monza,Spa-Francorchamps, Silverstone.
I have been fortunate to see deveral races in europe while travelling on business and the experience is awsome. The fans a rabid over their favorite team or driver, makes nascar look mild. Much, much better than IRL.

Here in the UK they are all televised. I have also been live, waste of time!
Everytime they come round everyone stands up, and when there gone it's a couple of minutes wait until more action. Tele is best, but there is hardly any
overtaking, it's all tactics like who can overtake with the quickest pit stop.
It can be very processional as well. With TV you get to see the whole track
and all the action, and if you watch it through an AV system, it's like your there.

I have been attending F1 races since 1977. I have seen the turbo era in the 80's running on rocket fuels. The exhaust burned your nose and eyes.
The 90's with the Honda v10 and v12. The wail went right thru your bones.
There is nothing more impressive than an F1 car in person!!!

F-1 is Amazing watched from 70ft as Rigazonni crashed at 180 Mph... CanAM is awsome!
In 1980 at the LB Grand Prix I watched from 70 ft away when Clay Rigazonni crashed a full speed (180 mph) into the barriers when his brake pedal broke... Imagine the thought in any car having your brake pedal snap off then think about it at 180mph with a hairpin turn ahead...
Rigazonnis car disenegrated right in front of my eyes and I thought I watched a driver die and it really rattled me. He survived but is cripilled but still races.
I also love the vintage F-1 cars my all time favorite is the Lotus 49 that Pete Lovely still owns and races..
Also there is nothing in the world that sounds as amazing as a group of CanAM cars (917, Mcclaren, Lola etc) racing a full song...

execmalibu,
I was sitting right there at the Queens Hairpin when Clay crashed. I'll never forget that...
